Humming Noise
I have searched the forums and still can't find anything.
I have started noticing a humming sound coming from my tires (I think). It sounds kind of like a lifted truck would with big off road tires. I am pretty sure it is coming from the tires, or somewhere in that area since it has nothing to do with engine rpm. It is wheel speed that seems to dictate the volume and frequency of the noise. Not entirely sure when it started, but it's getting really freaking annoying. Anyone have any idea what it might be?
btw, it's an 07 SS with stock 17" Pirellis

Road noise, faster you go the noisier they get...I'll with **** BUM COVER for a 1000!
It is the tires, they suck, or it could be that one of the tires is inflated wrong...check your psi, if they are ok...then realize that chevy sold you a car with extremely gay tires...

If you rotated the tire recently from right rear to left front switch the two front ones side to side.
Or you could possibly have a wheel bearing going,is the sound specific to one side?

I finally got mine in for service yesterday. The right rear wheel bearing was shot. Apparently it's somewhat of a common issue. As soon as I mentioned the noise the knew exactly what to look for.

I have a humming noise coming from my car. I only really notice this when i'm going roughly 45-55 mph. It is a constant noise and sounds like its coming from the engine. anyone else?

i have the same problem, and when i took it to the dealer they told me that "we do not know what the problem is but it SEEMS that all cobalts do that so it must be normal".. My noise is constant once i am coasting, be it at 15mph or 70mph. That noise was not there when i bought the car so i know they are giving me the run around.

I get that every once and awhile, the noise comes from the chicks head in my lap . Seriously though I have noticed some noise from my car at right around higway speeds, right in the 65 to 75 area on decel. I believe its normal noise coming from either the final drive or fifth gear itself. Excessive road noise is a sign of a bad tire. A good tech will rotate the tires as a diagnostic procedure to see if the location of the noise changes. Typically a hub will either growl, be loose, or both.
