Problems/Service/Maintenance Do you have problems with your new 2.0, 2.2, or 2.4L? What kind of service did you have done?

I think I installed the wrong component..

I think I installed the wrong component..

Hey guys, if you can please take a look at this picture, and tell me if you see something wrong. I've been having this P0102 code and have been trying to get it resolved. I spliced in a new pigtail (from the junkyard) that I pulled off a 2006 Cobalt and when I was comparing the wires just to ensure I spliced them in correctly I noticed an inconsistency between the two

The pigtail on the left is the component I spliced in, the one on the right was the component I took out. My Cobalt is a 2007 SS model.

Now, I did be sure to attach each wire to it's correct counterpart (pink with pink, yellow with yellow, etc.) and I did it one at a time, but this is kind of bothering me. When I did this, I noticed some wires that looked newer and less dirty then some of the wires further up, leading me to suspect this MAF had work done on it sometime in the past. I still haven't yet figured out the issue with the CEL, but I'm getting closer. This is just kind of bothering me. Should I be worried about anything?

don't see anything of concern from the pic
What engine do you have 2.4 or 2.0?
any issues with the intake air ducting?
if no
disconnect the maf connector. key on engine off
-Have you verified battery voltage on the pin c
key off-have you verified zero resistance on pin b to ground
koeo-clear dtc....disconnect the maf connector does p0102 reset
-with a fused jumper wire jumper pin c to pin a....does po103 set...if yes to the last 2 steps.. the wiring is ok...replace the sensor...if the dtc resets...replace the pcm.

I have a 2.4L Ecotec

So is it normal to have the pink wire and the black wire in different places? On different harnesses?

And btw, it's not the sensor that is causing me issues, I replaced it recently and I'm still getting the CEL. I'm not getting a ground reading from my multimeter when I probe the black wire with white stripe, and then I discovered this today

That wire is not even connected to anything and is just sort of sitting inside that plastic tube

you pulled the connector off a 2.0 instead of a 2.4 hence the different colours. As long as the wire gauge, pin fit are the same and you wired it to the correct pins, there is no problem.

broken wire is it violet with a black tracer?....pan out or tell me what the wire connects to

grd reading....confused as you have 2 different coloured connectors....the black/white wire in pin location 3 on the connector on the left??

I'm actually not even certain what the wire connects to, and I haven't yet looked at the broken wire in detail yet, I originally thought it was black with a white tracer line on it.

And yes, the black wire with a white stripe is what I tried to probe and couldn't get a reading on, but I might've not been using a small enough pin. Today, I acquired a T pin, so hopefully it does me better than the paperclip did.

Definitely some pins swapped on that MAF connection. Delphi plugs are actually not all that hard to tear apart and repin - I did my fuel injector harness with a couple small picks.

Carefully take off the purple plastic piece on the back. There should also be a purple plastic piece on the inside of the plug - it should pull right out with a small pick/hook. From there, there will be tiny plastic pieces that hold the pins in place. Lift it with one pick and push the pin out with another pick or a tiny screwdriver. Move them to where they need to be; they'll snap into place. Then reinstall the plastic guards.

At a minimum, you can practice on the spare MAF pigtail that you now have.

Is it going to affect what it's supposed to do in any way shape or form? I did make absolutely certain to connect each wire to its corresponding counterpart when I spliced.. Do I need to resplice it at all?

If the wire colors are correct - I wouldn't resplice - I would simply move the pins. You need to confirm which of those two pigtail pinouts is correct for your car first.

I'm unsure of how to do that. I can do a Google search, like I just did, and find an article like this https://www.justanswer.com/chevy/0zy...ensor-iat.html

Question is, how can I confirm whether or not that is legit? Sorry if this seems stupid, I'm still a novice ugh..

A - Yellow
B - Black
C - Red

Every Cobalt diagram that I'm looking at shows the pinout like that. I'm not sure how you got a plug from a Cobalt that had pins B & C swapped.

That might've been the reason the car ended up in the junkyard..? I have no clue lol

I swapped the pins tho, that was SUPER easy to do. (Thanks for the tip btw)

No problem. I was also surprised by how simple it was to pull the pins.
