So I have all the parts to pulley down the tvs. Now I've got a loud. Piston slap on startup. There's another tap tap tap underneath that noise that comes intermittently in threes. The slapping speeds up through 2nd and into 3rd gear then goes away. It's embarrassing. But not loud enough to be rod knock. Yet. Gets quieter at operating temp. Oil pressure is good.
Fair amount of glitter in oil. Intermittently. No chunks or debris.

 

Bump. I really need to know if this could be a bad bearing. . .

 

Bump I've had 10 people say rod bearing and a few say exhaust leak so I took header off a replaced gasket. Still doing it. Car still boosts and everything

 

I dont think rod knock would go away, i would think it would be louder under load.

 

Glitter (metal flakes) in the oil? Internal damage. Time for a rebuild.

 

Yup just by that description on the oil its says some internal damage to what extent its hard to say tho

 

There's been glitter in 3 or 4 changes now past year. Had replaced timing kit. And pulled pan before to no avail. What does the noise sound like to you guys? Btw. Motor has wiseco forged Pistons. I have all new bearings and gaskets if I have to build it but the motor has less than 50k on it

 

It sounds like a rod knock/piston slap.
