Hey guys.. got a question.. not to sure what it is..

I got a 2006 SS/SC has about 14000 kms on it

I just put my intake in couple days ago and i got a check engine light on, on my way home from work.


Also.. My car sounds really loud at IDLE? i pop the hood and it sounds really bad..

any ideas?

All i have is an intake.. but I also found it loud before the intake as well.. Could it be Lifters?? or something with the supercharger??


I know what my 1998 z24 sounded like with bad lifters.. but i can;t tell if its coming from the head or the supercharger..

any ideas.. let me know.. thanks

 

This might be a dumb question, and I dont mean to question your integrity with this, I am honestly curious... did you check to see if the filter is still on the end of the tube?

 

take it to the dealer, maybe an exhaust leak, or maybe something you cant really tell. Have someone look at it just to be safe.

are you sure it's not just the way it sounds?? these cars are by no means quite at idle...

 

i dono.. cause even in the driveway or when i pull up to an intersection the odd time.. the rpms.. seem to go nuts.. hope around and drop below and almost stall the car.. even somtimes when i reverse.. its weird.. and i can sometimes feel the car rumble when i am stoped at a light..

I don;t know if anyone else has this problem either.. but wheni turn off my car.. it shakes..

 

The real questions, is what kind of noise is it? Popping, rattling, grinding, scraping, knocking...describe the sound, and someone may be able to give you a better idea on what exactly is causing it.

Also, my car give a little shake when turning it off, too. That much is totally normal, especially if you have a torque brace and / or mounts.

 

Did it start when you put the intake on?

You might want to check all your piping and make sure all your connections are tight. I know you have the S/c but when I added my cai to my 2.2 it was really loud, but it was supposed to be after that.

its a more rattling kind of noise

 

like something is loose? i would check your intake, make sure everything is tight... how long have you had it in? sometimes from the vibrations it comes a little loose after you install it, should always double check... make sure it's tight
