I have a 08 coupe with basic LS package. Bought it new last January. Once in awhile, not always, when starting engine you hear a single clunk type noise from the engine compartment somewhere. Startup is perfectly normal, but then like one second after startup comes the "clunk". Not real loud, and not always. Can be cold, warmed up, dosen't seem to matter. But it is random and I was wondering if the auto trans or something in there is "known for" such a sound?

 

Not sure if it is supposed to be normal but my 07 does it every once in a great while.

 

same here. asked about it at the dealer and they couldnt figure it out so i said F it and just drive the thing

 

Yeah, I'm thinking it's probably just a quirky thing. Next time I do oil change I'll have them look over the engine mounts and any other obvious stuff, but I'm way in warranty for a long time yet. Thanks for the input. Anybody else out there ever hear it and had a dealer explain?
