Oil Change issues (intercooler coolant bottle)

So let me tell you some **** about this.

I was doing my oil and the 1 1/4" socket i was using to put the new oil filter in fell off my extensiion and got wedged down behind the aftercooler and the intake manifold, well out of arms reach.

So after about an hour of trying to figure out how to get it, and not having a strong enough magnet handy, I use a how to from on here to pull the supercharger off and get my hands down in there and get it out.

Well, 2 questions, first off, im pretty sure I didnt damage the supercharger gasket, I started the car after I was finished, put my head down to it and listened for air leaks, didnt really hear anything, but just in case I was missing something, what kind of noise would I be looking for to tell if any damage was done to the gasket.?

Second, the intercooler expansion tank, the 10mm bolts that hold it to the blower, anyone gat a part number for those, I lost one.

How many quarts did you end up putting in it?

I put in 6 and 1/2 (at the end; started at 6), and it was still not enough. Manual says 6 and I let it sit for awhile after starting it........1/2 quart later I'm in the "safe range," but I'm still 1/2 quart low.

WTF? I know this damn thing doesn't take 7 quarts. No leaks and I didn't spill any when filling it up BTW.

The car should only take 6 quarts to fill it. You have to start the car and let it run for a minute then let it sit and wait about 5 - 10 minutes to get an accurate reading.

Wow, up to 10 minutes? That's worse than a Ford.

I'll check it tomorrow before I leave. Hopefully it's not too far over the full mark.

now I'm lost...lol

You're probably right though. Usually when they list it in the manual it's not including the filter. Filters usually take about 1/2 on most vehicles.

So, I could see that.

I'm waiting for more to chime in....

The crankcase holds 6, but that doesn't include the oil that is in the filter and anywhere but the crankcase. 6.5 quarts FTW.

the "filter" on the SS/SC doesn't hold oil except maybe a SMALL amount that sits in the bottom of canister. You have to wait the 10 minutes or so while you wait for the oil to make its way out of the oil cooler and the filter and down into the oil pan. You could put 6.5 quarts in, but after the car sits for a little bit if you check the oil it will be over the top mark. I have never had to put more then 6 quarts in my car to get it to show on the full mark.

To be honest, I'd rather have the lesser amount of oil rather than too much. Speaking of oil, I need mine changed.
