Oil Leak! Please Help :(

Hey guys, I am leaking oil and its coming from my crankshaft pulley . Can you guys please give me some possible causes of what it could be? I do have the JBP lightweight crank...do you think if i went back to stock it would fix it??

Lol, I have the same issue but I'm using the stock pulley.

Sounds like you either fucked the seal or install error.

Anyone else?

I replaced mine yesterday. This morning I checked and I saw a little oil on the side of the block. Could just be residual that I didn't clean off. Saw nothing on the top of subframe unlike before where I would see tons of it. Who knows.

id bet the snout of the pulley has a groove in it that has cut the seal and causing it to leak. if it does have a groove, dont bother putting another seal in and hoping it works, cause it wont. you will either need to find a speedy sleeve (its a very thin steel sleeve that presses over the snout so the seal rides on a smooth surface) or replace the pulley.

Yup, most likely the seal. I ran the car for about 20 minutes last night and parked it.

Just came back in and there was a tiny tiny patch, maybe 2x2 of an oil spot. Like I said before could be residual that I didn't wipe off the cover when I put it back on because there was none on the top of the subframe, or it could still be leaking. I won't know until I drive it more.

Thanks guys...can you rate the difficulty of installing a new seal lol =/?

BUT, if the pulley did cut the seal, I would need a new seal AND the stock pulley right?

Its pretty easy to replace except the timing cover has to come off.

You will probably want to take it to a shop. I'd imagine it would be under warranty. The timing chain cover is a bitch to get off and usually requires alot of stuff yanked out of the car in order to get to it.

Actually, it's easy to take off. Remove idler pulley, crank pulley. Remove all bolts and it's off.

Ok guys, one more question if you don't mind. I've looked around at parts stores and I can't find the front main seal? And then i checked gmpartsdirect and its not there either...anyone know a part number? Or another name for it?

It's the front cover seal. I had Tom at CED put it up on the website.

Btw, my leak is gone.
