Passenger Presence Sensor Bad
Passenger Presence Sensor Bad
My check/service air bag light is on. I am going to get the code read, but I believe it's the passenger presence sensor. Dealer wants $553 for the part itself. Said the cushion/pad comes with it and can't get the sensor by itself. Anyone have any good ideas around this? I read there's a chance you could pull one off a wrecked cobalt? Highly considering this over the $553 the dealer wants, which I find outrageous. If anyone has any ideas or pics that would be great, thanks.
Just pull out of a wrecked cobalt. Pull the bottom seat cover out, pull the foam pad and then pull the yellowish plastic pad.
You can find a seat for for 100 bucks or less on ebay.

Get the code scanned first. Had the same issue. Airbag wouldn't turn on for passenger even with them seated. Ended up being a pinched wire in the b-post attached to the seat-belt retractor. Had the "retractor replacement and modification" done by dealer under warranty and problem resolved.
Something about the interior plastic design of the b-post pinches the wiring sometimes, so they replace the retractor (with new wires) and cut the plastic that pinches it away.
