Passenger rear view mirror replacement

So I've had my car for 4 days and already need to get some repair work done. Last night I moved my car into the driveway at my gf's house so we could light some fireworks off in the street. Her father then started carrying chairs from the backyard to the end of the driveway and in the process cracked the glass of the mirror on the passenger side. Luckily that was all that was damaged. Does anyone know if you can just replaced the glass portion or so you need to buy a whole new mirror assembly and have it match painted?

TIA.

well, I know that the outer part of the mirrior that is body-colored is removable separate from the rest of the mirrior, so I know that you won't have to get anything painted. You probably just have to have the inner parts replaced and then put the colored part back on.

look at this picture and you can see that it is just a cover, so the glass part can probably just be replaced.

That link doesn't work. I suspect is the search feature you used. I'm just going to call my dealership and see if its a quick fix or not. I will most likely be dropping it off on sat to get fixed or if its as easy as you suspect then I will just pop in the new piece myself.

FYI the glass portion can be replaced and the cost is a whopping $100 just for that part. Must be some nice glass.

go to your local autopart store. What it actually is is a pice of plastic that hold the glass on to it. Dealers and glass people wante dlike 80-100 for my g/fs and i think i piad no more than 20 for just the mirror insert that goes onto the plastic. Did this about 2 yrs ago and it still looks brand new.

Huh? The glass is shattered into about 6 or 7 pieces. There's no plastic "holder". The whole piece of glass needs to be replaced.

Got any pics of how that works ? My driver's side got broken - either by a lawn crew or a vandal , can't say for sure.

Either way, it's gonna have to be fixed ...

Edit for a pic :

Thanks !

Britt
