Performance Loss...PLEASE HELP

Alright, so i did the airbox mod a few weeks ago. I used an AEM dryflow filter. I have been very happy with it and have since put like 800-1000 miles on my car since the mod. Well, last night i was driving home and i noticed a CEL was thrown. Hmm...so i go home and have my brother hook up his AutoTap scanner to see what the cel is....Lean code P0171. Alright...i knew that this was most likely due to the different air/fuel mixture introduced by the mod. So...i unplugged the negative terminal on the battery and let the car sit for 10 minutes to reset everything. I started it back up and drove somewhere local in town...but i noticed a difference...especially while i just got done driving 40 miles. The car doesn't sound any different...but it feels different. It doesn't feel like it pulls as hard as it used to. The supercharger still screams, the engine still revs...but it doesn't have the same pull to it. I don't think this is just in my head because i noticed it the first time i shifted into second after unplugging the battery. First gear is fine. But when trying to take off pretty quickly, it seems that second gear bogs down and is pretty tame until the rpms get up....then it pulls. It just feels weird because my car feels so much slower on acceleration now. Can anyone shed some light on this please???

You have to go to a dealership and get the updated reflash. It will fix the CEL and performance. That's it.

the cel went away...i'm no longer getting a lean code. There's an updated reflash? how come? were people modding and noticing power loss as well? is this a common issue with the ss/sc?

there was something with the maf coding ... gm fixed it... also takes care of the surging idle.... takes like 15 min to get done and its under warranty.... I did that the first week I had the car... did the airbox mod that night and never had a CEL

I believe I can shead some light on the seat of your pants reduction.

You said you were running the car lean, well when you run the car lean it runs harder and faster. It is a given in any motor, I had an 04 Cobra and it also had an aftermarket intake and it also poped lean codes all day but she ran like stink.. Loved the car then but figured not a great idea so I fixed the intake reset the computer (LIKE YOU) and boom same deal less powa and no light.. Probally for the best!

To give you idea what a difference a lean car makes for h.p the Cobra put down to the rear wheels 375hp in lean mod and 367hp not lean!! Torque was the very close.

Hope that helps you a bit.
