i just got on the highway tonight coming home from the store was in 5th cruising bout 65 when all of a sudden my car falls on its face, starts spitting and sputtering and the tach went to zero wasn,t working so i pulled of the next exit come to a stop sign when i went to take off car had no power barely wanting to go so i found a place to pull over put the car in neutral it starting reving real high then drop down real low almost stalling and it just kept doing that i opened the hood smelled like something was burning so i shut the car off couldn't find anything wrong, let it sit bout 2-3 minutes try to start it started right up was idleing fine took off drove the rest the way home with no problems ran great. Gots me puzzled. Didn't see any check engine light on or anything when it happened. Any help would be great. THANK YOU

 

Even if you saw no CEL, there may be a code...take it to Autozone or similar and have them scan it first. It may shed some light on the situation. Sounds almost like those that have had their CPS fail, but that usually happens at high rpm.
