Replace all or just part?
So I have a feeling my timing tensioner is going on my 05 LSJ. I can hear I think slack coming from the engine bay. Another SS owner said that is the timing chain. The car has 109K and was bone stock when I got it a few months ago. Should I just replace the Tensioner or the whole thing? (Chain, guides, so on)
Well I don't have the time to do the work myself because I cannot be without a car especially with college starting. Was going to have the Chevrolet techs do the work at the dealership. If I had another car and time I would attempt to do it myself, but since I have never even pulled apart an engine I would feel very uncomfortable pulling the car apart especially since I'm still making payments on it.
yeah if your strapped for time just do the tensioner. Its easy to get to and you dont have to take half the motor apart.
IF the tensioner alone does not fix your issue then you can look into the entire timing kit but given your situation just do the tensioner for now.

So the dealership wanted to charge me $1010 for the job. The parts alone cost $450 for genuine GM. I told him I would order my own kit which they were fine about. So what do you all think of this kit?
