(SRT4) Problem .. turbo
(SRT4) Problem .. turbo
I know this is a cobalt problem thread but I have always seemed to get more quicker responses and this forum being much more helpful I thought Id try to paste my problem here incase any of you who might have some knowledge with turbos or srt4s could help me since no1 has wrote back to me on the srt forums yet and I posted this yesterday...
"So yea, if any of you had read my other post.. I had a boost leak and sent it to the dealership (GM Dealership because thats where I bought the car and got the extended warranty from)... They ended up saying it was a blow bearing on a turbo so Im like ok whatever.. I paid a $100 deductible for it. I get it back and I still hear the same noise.. So I call tehm back and they said they think its normal for the turbo to sound that loud and right away I know they dont know what they are talking about... Today I went to my mechanics place and did a boost leak test and found the problem in under 5 minutes and all it was, was some tube not conencted to the intercooler. Bingo Problem solved.. beat the dealership... So after that we drove around for part of the day and checked it out and it drove perfect... That is until after I got out of work tonight... I was driving hoem and gave it soem gas and I started to bog down liek the engine was stopping.. I brought it back to my mechanic and on teh way I noticed my boost does not stop building.. like Ill max the boost gauge in a seconds and the tires will spin and the mopar bov with flutter like hell... Also the turbo, turbo manifold, wastegate actuator, and bov are all brand new with only a little over 500 miles on them... Does any one have any idea what is wrong with my car?.. My guess is the wastegate actuator not working... but I have no idea
Thanks, Bryan"
Thanks everyone!

yeah sounds like the wga... you got the AGP one on there? sounds like if the dealership was messing with it and tightened it all the way so you'd be holding over 20 psi... and on a stock turbo... that is no good.
see what I mean.. this forum replies so quickly and I love it thanks!... yea that was my first guess is it must me the WGA... I mean its brand new and was working fine for about 500 miles... then I connected that tube to the intercooler to get the right boost and it drive right for most of the day until I was driving home from work it just all of a sudden stopped working and started to over boost... So yea Ill have to bring it back to the dealership.. .but I just dont think they have any knowledge on my car considering they couldnt find the simple problem the first time... I wish they would let me use the GM warranty at a dodge dealership.... but also I should have never bought this car in the first place.. Im already somewhat looking for another black ss/sc
im a ex srt4 owner, and from my personnal experience its ur WGA..the spring inside the wga prolly got damaged,or the wga is damaged its self,or the dealership was playin with the bolt that loosens/tights the spring so it can hold more boost...i tryed a friends wga out of his car(functioning agp wga)and the problem got fixed right away.i would suggest buy the ptp WGA...or get your self another agp wga..
also check the vacuum line to the actuator, make sure it didn't pop off while you were fixing the intercooler pipes.. I know how many vacuum lines are under the hood if you aren't running stg I or II
