So I went out, got gas and decided to drive aroud a bit. no big deal right, as i come to a stop sign the car starts idling really rough. and my traction control light starts freaking out blinking on and off... i pull over into a parking lot...turn it off for a min and start it back up. seems ok then i start moving t/c light again comes on and again with the rough idle. so rough that i have to keep the gas pressed to keep it around 1000rpms to keep it steady. i start moving again and when the t/c light is going off and on about every 10-15 seconds. and shifting is really rough through every gear ( i have the auto btw) i finally make it home...cant really figure out what it would be...... anyone have any guesses?

Bad gas?

I really don't know, but just try disconnecting the battery, & letting it sit for like 10 minutes, than connect it back & try it again.

 

Get the code reader out and find out what codes are stored -- Autozone or any parts house that checks codes for free -- unless someone out there has had this problem and knows what had to be fixed we could throw guesses out all day long over the internet but probably won't be of much help.

For example I think it could be something wrong with your wheel speed sensor -- wire loose or defective. BUT..... that is just a "stab in the dark"

i know, i used to live in va. the roads there are usually pretty smooth. since they repave every 6months to a year. or atleast in my area they did....

so the battery trick didnt work. i just let it idle for about 10mins and it was kinda rough and then the t/c light flew back on.
I was thinkin about trading it for an 09 t/c i found... but with all these problems... i doubt ill head that way grrrr.

 

Take it to the dealer or a shop specializing in the electronic brake system. Since the TC light is controlled by the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM), and the EBCM tells the ECM to reduce power when you lose traction, I'd bet money that's where you'll find your problem. Disconnecting the battery will not solve your problem -- do you know where to look for the front wheel sensors?

 

have an apt setup. but it decided to start throwing the p0171 (running lean) after i disconnected the battery. so thats where my idle prob is coming from.

 

Please post what they end up finding and doing to fix -- educate all of us!

 

I had this exact problem on my LE5 and it ended up being my ECM. They fixed it about 15 months ago and I have never had that issue since.

 

yea the autos are prone to having this ... eventually it'll get to a point where it kicks out the power steering.. one of my coworkers had it happen and they replaced the bcm and ecm

 

f'n great. sounds pricey. lol damn this no warranty ****.

hopefully... when they check it out they can relate it to the front end crash it was in...if they can...insurance will foot the bill.

 

theres a good chance it could've been from the crash.. if theres an issue.. check junk yards.. it's a good 1k bill otherwise

it's an internal short in the bcm i think .. if you sarch on here there is a thread about it in 06's big time
