temp concern

I have a 06 ls 5spd with 73,xxx miles one it.. I notice them coolent temp likes to move a little more then it used to. When I first started watching the engine temp, it would idle and Cruz at 185-187. For the past week the car would get up to 190-192 driving with heat on. And if i sit at a light to long it will get up to 196 or 198. Not going past that... again, with heat on. This morning I decided to try something... so I turned my heat off on the drive to work.. and the car was cruising at 183 and at a long stop light got back up to 187... but not past that. I don't understand it, and am wondering what you guys think? Should I be worried, or is it nothing? The car isn't losing coolent and the block isn't sweating under the head, so I don't think its the head gasket. I also checked the oil yesterday after doing my oil change... no coolent in the oil. The heat in the car is strong like always has been since I got it. Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

is this your first winter with the car?

I'm taking a total stab in the dark that maybe the car is programmed to run a few degrees hotter in the winter to keep your heat temp up?

Regardless, those temps aren't hurting anything.

Yep first winter with the car. The cav I had before had an analog temp gauge, so i never saw changes that much. Now all I watch is this digital one.

Thanks guys for the heads up. Glad it is nothing to worry about.

mine gets up to 190 at the most right now and it's cold. It's a shot in the dark, but those temperatures sound fine. possibly the engine works harder when you put on the heat because the alternator has a little more stress to keep the a/c blower on for your heat?

Start worrying if you climb past 225 degrees and it doesn't start to cool down.

Sounds normal to me...
I have the SS/ LSJ Engine, 06 5spd and if I sit arround idleing my temp has gotten over 200.
180 is normal, 190 is still normal.
