transmission differential
transmission differential
ok so my car went into the shop because of not staying into second gear it keeps popping out so the dealersip said it was under warrenty so it was all good they gave me a rental car and what not now i got a call today that now all of a sudder the transmission is not covered now they said and i quote "transmission differential is spun out" now i have no idea what that means not a clue so if someone can help me out and let me know what i am dealing with that be great
What engine / tranny? The only thing I can think of is if you have an open diff and did a lot of one-wheel-peels. That wreaks havoc on the differential. But I really have no idea if that's even what the dealer is talking about.
sorry i have a 07 ss 2.4 not sure of what type of diff or trann it has but ya thats what he told me was wrong with the car i didnt even know that could make the car come out of gear and i havent done any tier burn outs or anything what how it happened was i was going up a hill off the highway going home and put the car in second gear and it poped out i figured i didnt put it in all the way but then it still wouldent stay in so idk
2nd gear popping out is 1-2 syncro, 1-2 shift fork, and 2nd gear replacement territory. Spun differential is probably a severally destroyed diff.
My friends differential went, and we're just going to put a junk yard transmission in it.

hey thanks alot ans she pretty average and i think there trying to bullshit me too because all the other gears work fine and **** so idk and iam looking foward too the reply tommorw at 8 thanks again guys
Mine sounds wonderful. Still have all my gears for right now though. When the car was newer they replaced second gear and the 1-2 shift fork and syncro. That was all under warranty though. Now I'm pretty sure my differential is on it's last legs. Like slowswap said I have a new transmission to swap in. I don't exactly take it easy on my car though. Won't know everything for sure that's wrong with it until we take it apart and investigate.
I havent seen the tech I was gonna ask. I know where he is, but I have to give a presentation before I can go ask. Its gonna be a little later than 8. Sorry about that but I WILL get an answer for you
I spoke with three different ASE Master techs, the only thing they could figure is a spun bearing. None have ever heard of that term before in a FWD trans. I would ask for more information if they don't cover it under warranty. Find out what the hell they are talking about
