Trouble with clutch/transmission

I'm having a really annoying intermittent problem where some days I will start it up, and it just won't go into gear at all, any gear. But if I turn the car off, it will go into any gear perfectly fine. And if I start it in a gear, it will actually move while I have the clutch in. I have replaced the clutch master cyclinder and flush the fluid. Any ideas? Thanks!

is there or was there a rattling noise? u may have exploded the clutch disk. i had a clutchmasters stage 4 n the disk eploded n pieces got lodged behind the fingers on the pressure plate making it not able to go into any gear and if i start it in gear it would move. other thing would be that your not getting any fluid to the throwout bearing.

Nope, there is no rattling at all, should have mentioned I have a stage 3 clutch master clutch as well. It's an on and off issue, if I let it sit for a few mins/ hours it will go back to normal for a few days/weeks.

First thing I would guess is that you still have air in the line that needs bled out. Many recommend bleeding the air using a small vacuum pump.

how does the pedal feel when you have the issue? if it feels normal its likely not a hydraulic problem, i would suspect something mechanical.

ive done clutch jobs where one spring has come loose from the hub and it will fall against the flywheel bolts and drag the clutch disc, and after shutting it off itll fall back into the disc and everything will be fine. i actually saw this on quite a number of 2000+ cavaliers/sunfires.

Clutch pedal always feels exactly the same, there is no noise when it happens either. Would I be able to check if that's the problem without taking out the clutch/transmission?

you definitely need a clutch. i went through 2 clutchmasters disks, cuz they exploded and pieces got lodged between the disk and clutchmaster pressure plate. u can see the scoring on the disk. if your not above gms1 power id get a stock clutch. thats what i did at least, i figure if they covered it on a 50k mile drivetrain warranty with gms1 its fine. its been 2k miles no slipping with proper break in

if its blown up id go with the southbend, specifically for the fact you can replace the disk by itself if it blows up like this. clutchmasters doesnt sell the disk by itself so to get a new one means another 600 bux unfortunately. but you could call them maybe they can help you out
