weird clanking noise?? :(

Well ever since i got the car or as far as i can remember from about a year ago when i start the car and its idling i hear a noise coming from the supercharger i think it sounds like something is loose and is spinning and making a clanking noise... with the hood down and from outside and in the car u can hear it its pretty consistant and sounds like something is loose or something in there...sometimes when the car warms up or after like 15 min of running, it will stop and i wont hear it. i was just wondering if anyone could possibly know what this could be. i have an 07 cobalt ss/sc with stage 2 airbox mod and exhaust....thanks

goin to sleep hopefully someone can help me tomorrow...goodnight

Timming chain tensioner , or SC coupler could be on the way out. Hell there are a thousand thing it could be. The top end of these motors are noisey. Take a screwdriver and put it up to ur ear and check exactly where its coming from . I thought my sc was loud , used a screwdriver and it ended up bieing the injectors ticking .

My 07 ss/sc do the samething only when warm and it intermitent.

ist coming from the cam sensor on the left side of the exh. cam. toc toc toc toc....

its weird.

I take it to the dealer, but the problem was not present.

maybe you can check if the noise come from the same place.

Yes, buy a new coupler from Intense-Racing.com or ZZPeformance.com. One or both should have them in stock. The replacement should last forever.

Im having the same "marbles in a tin can" sound, never determined exactly where in the engine it was coming from.

Still under warranty. Dealers cant replicate the sound, of course.

It's not consistant at all. Somtimes it does it from a cold start, but most of the time not until its warm, about 3-5 min. of driving. I'm talkin seriously loud rattle, where random people tell me my car is retarded. Not a good feeling.

It used to do it about once a week. Now its more like once a month... if that. But I havent tried anything to fix it. I'm at 30k miles now btw. The noise was at its worst around 10k-22k. Dont know if it has anything to do with it.... all i know is it isnt as bad now as it used to be.

But none the less... it still exists.

Is this the problem that the SC coupler will fix? Or does it sound timing-chain related?
