Official GCE Announcement: Head's up

If you don't know yet, I'm starting work again with Kevin tomorrow (Tuesday) which means I won't be as available as I have been to get some of the things done with GCE and RNR. This means that the work load will have to be spread more among ALL of the members instead of a few. Now, I understand most of yall have full time jobs, but if you want this sponsorship to continue then you'll take heed to what I'm saying and cooperate. Here's part of an e-mail I received from Brian today.

Here are some of the upcoming dates to be aware of –

April 3rd – Sale event here at the store

April 18th – GCE normal meet day at store

May 1st – Sale event here at the store

June 18-21st – Scrapin the Coast

I would like some summary feedback from all the club members about this weekend and how they felt it went. I would also like to sit with you and Rusty to put together a detail on what the club has done for us in the last three months – List out dates with some detail as to what happened and pictures separated by those dates to show what happened- ie USS Alabama meet, Hattiesburg show with pics of booth, Our show with pics, our sales with pics. I really want to show Wayne and Reid the value that we have through you guys and see what else we can do. I want to do this first one with you guys so we can nail out how it should be laid out. We can also do this via email.

Here are a few ideas for you to ponder on…

Cobalt/Ecotec meet at the store (kinda like the USS Alabama meet?)

The War: After Dark- we talked a little about this already

Things to consider when thinking about these things

What do you want to happen at these events?

What other people would you like to include as we move forward?

What dates would you consider for these events?

If we start talking about these things now or other ideas I can try to get them in the budget so we can have some money to spend rather than relying completely on turnout.
Everyone can start out by typing a paragraph or two about the part in bold print. Keep it clean, keep it coherent, and keep it legit if at all possible. Remember, spell check is your friend.

When I get everyone's opinions, we'll get those put together and presented to Brian. This will go into the file that I (and whoever else) put together to ultimately present to Brian for him to present to his boss.

Also, please take notice of the underlined portions of the above quote. I'll need as many people that I can get to these events. Everyone has been doing pretty good about showing up. Let's take it one step further and bring a few friends with us to hang out. Remember, we're under contract to make these dates, so if nobody shows up then we could lose our benefits from RNR.

If anyone has any questions, let's hear them. Keep in mind this is serious. All cooperation is appreciated.

How i thought this weekend went.

Well to be honest, it went better than i expected. I didn't think we were going to have the turnout we did. But then again, I am very pessimistic when it comes to these sort of things. I thought it was only going to be like 10 cars. I was so worried the whole week. I think it was staffed and put together fairly well for the short amount of time it required. As a car club, I believe we did what we had to do, but everyone (for the most part) has seen/read what kind of people there are out there.

There were also things I believe that could have been different. The judging didn't really work well for such a small crowd. The Gander Mtn. show worked out because there were ALOT of people there, so there were many different views on who was the "best." At our show, a group of friends just voted for who they thought should have been the best.. Which obviously caused alot of discrepancies, and i can see why. I'm not going to get into what I think of the matter because it's not my place..

Basically I think if the crowd would have been larger, it would have been a complete different experience. The raffles would have been much more... exciting!! And again, i believe GCE did the job of spreading the word, but we have these people that just look at everything so negative because of who is organizing it. Also, I REALLY wish we would've been able to do a track thing to solidify the "Import vs. Domestic" thing. I think that would have really set the show off, and i think we would've also had a larger turnout.

As it was our first attempt at a giant show as a club, I feel we did a bang-up job. It was fun even though we couldn't enter hahaha. But it wasn't a big deal. I had fun either way.
For our next job, "The War: After Dark", I think we should schedule an all out track day. Maybe April 21st.. exactly 1 month later from the original "War".
Battle it out in a REAL way.. like everyone thought The War was originally about. We could talk to the staff of the Gulfport Dragway about making brief announcements that let everyone know about RNR and the deals they have, store hours, phone numbers/who to talk to... etc. And let them know that GCE thanks them for coming out and everything. To be honest I think we could get hundreds of people to come out to this thing.. because there is alot of people that go to to the track on Wednesdays anyway, so that is only another positive. As for the winners.. i have no ideas yet. And the dates are completely debatable. Just a thought I guess.

So in conclusion, want to thank Brian for this opportunity. And I hope that GCE can continue to do what we have to do to uphold our end of the deal. And I will continue, as an individual to do my part whenever needed. Thanks again.

-adam

I think adam served that up well. As for the voting. I think that we/us should have done some judging... As our cars were not in the show. Would have been unbiased. I have only seen a few of the people there no more than 1 time.

As for the sour ****** that was upset about who won? I only seen one.. The guy that took off early?

We might as well get used to when people leave driving like an ass. We made an announcement and people still did it. (i didnt mind) there ticket not mine.

I will come up with more stuff but im kinda swamped with school work at the moment.

I was really dissapointed with the turn out. I worked for hours and hours making the flier and getting them passed out, so did trey, adam, and rob. Everyone else helped out alot to but we were the only ones from the club that worked on it night after night for almost the hole week. (Not saying anything about those who couldn't, I understand jobs and family come first.) The thing is we had alot of guys out there getting the word out, it didn't matter if we only had two weeks or not. We passed out a TON of fliers. It just wasn't enough. Next time we will need radio time and adds in the local news papers and stuff like that.

The judging sucked. There was only one guy there that I would ask to judge again. I think his name was eric, the guy with the tattoos. The others didn't know what to look for and really just saw pretty paint and tv's. We need judges that look at how much work went into a car.

The car bash was a big hit but im not sure how much money in made us. It was a fun thing to have there for sure and with more people I think it would be better. The raffel tickets were a good idea but just like the car bash, more people would make it better. We should think about doing some games at the next show. Free to enter stuff with cheap little prizes. Like import vs domestic tug-o-war, or other simple games like that.

Thanks guys. Try to clean those up a little bit if you don't mind. The better your statements look the better our report will look when it's finished.

The War

I thought I would write a few things about the car show. I will start by saying that I think it went very well for the first car show as a club there will always be areas that we can improve on that is justa fact of life. i know that we wanted more people to come but honestly do you think we had a whole lot more room to put 75 or more cars? I think that i can get a couple of buisnesses to let us use there parking lots like the big one by Dominos and the hobby Shop right on 49. I also think that more people would have come out if we whern't so far north. just my oppinion. I think the judging did suck because of such a small croud and I can say Eric was the only one that looked at everything. Example the red Civic So much was done to that car he eneded up crying in his car and gave back the trophy. I agree with adam our cars where not in the show so we would have had no bias towards anyones car. I appoloze personally to adam, aaron, rob, trey , and rusty but if I don't know your out I can't read your mind man. I passed out as many as I could all over base and downtown. I know I could have done more but I didn't know why, if and where you needed help all you got to do ask and I will be there if I can. Sorry if it sound like I am crying not the case just letting you know hwere i stand. I think that we will do nothing but get better and remember if anyone needs anything just call my phone is always on.

All said and done I Had a GREAT Time and I hope everyone else did as well.

I will Start thinking of some ideas for After Dark I think I might have a few Ideas.

David, I think you told me that you lived next to the track owner/manager? That's how you could help us out.

I sure as hell had a blast.

The turn out was good for what we had.
If i was in a show i would not want to have my car parked out in the grass away from the action anyway.

Did the guy really give his trophy back?

no sense of beating our selves up over it. I think every one there had a good time. I really didnt see anyone that looked like they were miserable to be there.

Punch yourself in the face. Keep this junk outta the GCE thread!!!

I need you all to edit your posts so they are readable! I'm not your mother! I'm not going to go and fix all of your grammatical errors! I just tried doing it in Adam's post and I basically re-wrote what he said! FIX YOUR ERRORS!

At least capitalize your "I's" and make complete sentences. Remember, continuing our sponsorship depends on these reports I turn in!

You have a bad ass car indeed. I've never seen a SOM cobalt ss. My girlfriend has a SOM LT. Anyways, it just so happens that we're using that design for our business cards.
