Possibly selling my computer - need opinions

I'm trying to decide whether to sell my whole desktop or just upgrade my motherboard, cpu, etc and keep my drives. All components are 1-2 yrs. old and in excellent working condition. I'm looking at selling because it just can't keep up with the current generation of games.

Here are the parts:

Antec Solution series mid-tower with smart power 350w psu and 120mm intake and exhaust fans.
MSI K8T Neo motherboard with Athlon 64 3200 CPU (Socket 754)
1.5 GB DDR400 Memory
Two 80GB Hard drives (One IDE, one SATA)
Sony 16x DVD-ROM, Pioneer DVD/CD+RW
Radeon 9800 pro video card
Happauge PVR-150 TV Tuner Card w/ remote.

Depending on what you want, I can include an OS (Windows XP Pro or a linux install), accessories (speakers, joystick, wireless network card), and software (games and/or productivity). Just PM me and let me know what you want and what you're willing to offer.

If I end up selling this, transactions will be done through paypal only.

Why wouldn't you just upgrade the Motherboard and CPU and keep the rest. What Game/Games are you trying to play that that wont handle?

Vanguard is my main reason right now. It runs, but choppily on max. performance. I'm sure more games will follow. I'm just one of those people that likes to run the newer games in higher detail. If I upgrade my mb and cpu, i'll have to do ram and video card as well. That's why I'm considering just selling the whole thing.

Try rolling back your ATI drivers.
7.1 catalyst, and for that matter 7.2, are terrible with vanguard.

PM me on MSN if you want, (grey_aussie@hotmail.com)
Im a bit of a vanguard junky and ive figured alot out about how to run this game well.

Example: 3300+ amd 64, 1gig ram, X800pro vid.

When i first started playing my performance was exactly like yours. barely running on minimum settings.

Right now, with NO hardware changes at all....Im running about 30-35FPS on Balanced mode in 1280X1024.

Tried it already. If you know any other fixes off the top of your head, send me a PM please. I still want to upgrade anyways as I try to do a major upgrade every couple of years.

well in about 2 hours im expecting a phonecall from the computer company i have throwing my system together.

pentium Core2 duo 6400 (2.13)
2gb corsair gaming ram
nvidia 8800gts
22 inch widescreen 5ms monitor (1 pixel failure warranty)
300gb 7200rpm 16mb HD

and btw....try playing a brand new MMORPG.
Even with this smoking system, I doubt it will be able to handle vanguard on its max settings.
if you think your computer is working hard playing B&W2, you will be shocked.

Even though it's old, your CPU isn't too bad. You could get away with swapping only the motherboard and GPU and do ok. You're GPU just can't handle current games well. I actually have a socket 754 Epox SLI board in one of my machines with a 2.0ghz K8, and it does well with the proper GPU.
