New Exhaust sale from Clear Image Automotive

We are happy to announce our new line of exhaust systems for the Cobalt SS.

EDIT: And now the SS/TC

We do all of our own mandrel bending, assembly and welding here at our shop in Kent, WA. Other systems may be less expensive coming in from over-sees and there is nothing we can do about that. What we can do is stand by our products and customers 110%. When you order products from Clear Image Automotive you know those products were developed on cars from owners on this forum and our local area. We asked what the community wanted in an exhaust system, listened to the local owners and built our system to those requests. Our exhaust systems fit better than stock and sound & perform great.

All R&D has been done on the 2 1/2" as well as the 3" system. We chose to use Magnaflow muffler, resonator and tip.

Tubing will be available in both aluminized steel and 304 stainless steel.
The tip is the only part of the exhaust mirror polished.

Both size exhaust systems will bolt to the factory down-pipe with the 3" exhaust using a slip-fit design to adapt to a 3" down-pipe if desired.

Here is a sound clip of our 2 1/2" system on a 2.2L engine:
http://www.clearimageautomotive.com/...s/exhaust1.mov

We do not have a sound clip of the 3" system yet.

Retail prices for the 3" system:
aluminized steel tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $527.54
304 stainless tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $604.68

Retail price for the 2 1/2" system:
aluminized steel tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $503.48
304 stainless tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $575.62

We have been very well received on this forum and we wanted to show our appreciation for all of YOUR support. Rather than host a traditional Group Purchase we have elected to offer a killer price on the first 20 orders. No tier pricing. For an exhaust system made 100% in the United states using parts made 100% in the United states, I doubt you'll find any better value .

Sale prices for the 3" system:
aluminized steel tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $395.66
304 stainless tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $453.51

Sale prices for the 2 1/2" system:
aluminized steel tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $377.61
304 stainless tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $431.71

Plus shipping.

NOTE: Our stainless systems are made of 100% 304 stainless steel. The Magnaflow muffler & resonator are 409 stainless and the Magnaflow tip is 304 stainless, but it is slightly magnetic which indicates a lower grade 304. other companies advertising "stainless" exhaust systems tend to use 409 becayuse they are able to use the marketing advantage of calling their system stainless while still being able to keep their costs down by using 409. If the muffler, resonator and tip were available in 100% 304 we would prefer it. One way to check the purity of your stainless exhaust system is to test with a magnet. Pure 304 is not magnetic in any way, shape or form. 409 has a high carbon steel content, polishes like 304 but will rust and is very magnetic. If your exhaust system is advertised as "304 stainless", it should not be magnetic... If it is, even slightly, it is a low quality 304. This is what is used in almost every exhaust system being imported from other countries. We are looking into making & offering our own line of 100% pure 304 stainless mufflers. We'll keep everyone posted.

Any questions let us know.
We're here to serve.

Thanks again.

That is the 3" system. The 2 1/2" systems will be a little less. I'm working on prices now.

Shipping will depend on area code. With other systems we ship i estimate roughly $45.00.

Sorry, that's all I have. I am lucky I was able to up-load it. I'm far from a web designer.

Why yes we do. I would post a sale on the redline forum but the admin over there seem to be on vacation and have never gotten back to me about becoming a supporting vendor.

We will be doing a 3" exhaust install on a Redline in the next couple days.

The only difference is the Ion is slightly longer and there will be more length after the axle. The muffler inlet/outlet is also different. We will be able to make the adjustments when we do the install.

If you want to order the price will be the same.

I haven't even had a chance to put the details on our site yet. I wanted to get this up on the forum today as I have been telling our header/DP customers since last week i would have the info soon.

Man, you guys are hard to keep up with. I guess I need to stop answering the forum and get my pricing done for the 2 1/2". I will do that right now and post with prices.

It's a 4" rolled tip with angle cut.
I'll get pictures up shortly.

Hmm... why do all the good GB's have to be offered at the same time?...
I'm really looking to invest in your Head/DP combo, and would like to look more into this cat-back.
Do you have any pictures of the system not installed on a car?

[edit]
Nvm that last part, I saw you updated post.

Damn it Dan.

Anyone want a Megan catback?

(Note: Was being a smart ass there, quit messaging me. If I was selling it I would start a thread, not do it here.)

Simply because all of the vendors are doing their best to capture as many sales as possible. The American businesses have to compete with the Canadian and Japanese businesses. Retailers have to compete with wholesalers. Etc... We're fortunate enough to be a manufacturer and are able to develope our own products, build our own products, retail our own products and ship our own products. The only middle man you have to go through with us is Beth. And you all know she's fun to deal with.

I'm not bashing the product or anything but perhaps you can tell me exactly what good running a 3" exhaust and then decreasing the pipe to 2 1/2" to go into the muffler does? It completely defeats the purpose of having a full 3" exhaust because in the end you are still cramming all the exhaust gasses into a 2 1/2" pipe entering and exiting the muffler. Seems like a waste without having a 3" inlet and a 3" outlet on the muffler...

Funny.. That's the 2nd time I have heard this today. Here's my response from the G5 forum:

Send it back!

Just kidding. I'm sure they offer a nice system. But ours is made in America.
Thanks for your comments... We like knowing you would have prefered our products.

I touched on this in another thread. I think it was the Header/DP thread.

Anyways, in short, exhaust gases cool and condence as they travel rear-ward. As a result velocity decreases. By reducing the size of the tubing the velocity is kept constant. We can do a 3" in/out muffler if you want one. In fact we can pretty much build anything, but experience tells me this is the best way to go. Only exception would be an engine producing 325 HP plus. This is MY personal opinion. I do NOT have any back to back dyno numbers comparing a true 3" system to the system we are advertising. But, it can definitely be done, possibly next week.

No problem. So... Did you like my reasoning? Agree, dis-agree?
