Best Springs??

Need some helps ladies and gent's, I never bought springs before and I was wondering who makes the best ? And also what kind to get meaning sport, rally etc. I would like to lower the car a little but still have that wedge look. Any Adivice would help. Oh and are they easy to put on yourself and/or how would if be to get them put on at a shop?

In a simliar situation i want to keep the "wedge" look talk about and lower my car evenly, but most kits i have seen lower the SS S/C from 1-2 inches in both back and front. Check out Eibach or H&R springs they can be found on gravana

hope this helps

I think i'm going with the Eibach Pro Kit.. Our cars already have an awesome race stance with the front end lower than the rear. The Pro Kit only lowers the rear .5" and 0" in the front. Stiffer spring rate so the handling will be a lot better than the already impressive handling from stock

honestly there is no best out there. do research. my suggestion is

1. What do you want out of the car?
2. What are your plans?
3. What is your ultimate goal?
4. Is this going to be your daily driver?
5. Are you whilling to sacrifice comfort?

After that is done Research

1. You dont want a spring that will Sag.
2. You dont want a spring that has extremly high spring rates, unless your going for all out auto x or track racing. If you do get a supper high spring rate than you better not complain about crappy ride and feeling everything.
3. Match the Spring w/ the proper Strut/shock. a performance strut/shock. Dont go elcheapo either. Spend money on quality. IE. Koni, Tokico adjustables, Bilstiens. (note no current strut/shock is available) so expect the oem struts to go out. Regardless If the ss s/c or RL have performance struts. those struts are designed for OEM spring's nothing else.

THis is where I would start since there are currently no full coilover setups, or shocks/struts.

1. Front and rear strut tower bar's,
Strut bars will help:
- Reduce Chassis Flex,
- Give you the ability to corner better, and stay more stable on hard cornering.

2.Polyeurithane bushings all around (endlinks on the swaybars, and A-arm bushing's also reduces wheel hop)
Bushings
- Endlinks (swaybar bushings)
- A-arms (look at your front wheels you'll see them attached to the spindle of your brakes)
- Bushings help keep the chassis stiff, and reduce flex.

3. Springs, shocks/struts
Springs - My preference that offer performance and still have a excellent ride (w/ properly matched strut/shock would be, H&R, B+G, KW (KW garauntee's sag free but is more competitive, so slightly harsher ride)

Shocks/Struts - Koni is honestly the only way to go, they are expensive, but you get what you pay for. and keep that in mind, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. You buy cheap stuff, expect cheap performance / ride.

eibach are good springs, but honestly your paying more for the name than n e thing else. eibach's have been known to sag alot. also have been known not to drop the car the correct height. also have been known not to drop evenly on all 4 corners. thats why eibach is not my choice of spring. they are good but your paying for the name more than anything else.

well, then what springs would you suggest for a nice quality drop (money no object) but still very drivable as far as getting up hills and steep driveways?

some sites that sell eibach have that lowerings you just said but other sites say that is prokit is much more of a drop than that...like gravana says the sportline is 1.6 front and 1.8 rear...but turbotech says the sportline is over 2 inches drop for front and rear....see for yourself.......can anyone tell me where to get the correct info before i slam my car on the ground alot lower than i want it ?!

On my '01 Cavalier Z24, I installed Eibach Pro-Kit springs. I did this with normal hand tools and access to an impact wrench. I did this myself with a hydraulic jack and 2 jack stands.

I had no problems with them for the 3 years that I had them on the car. Of course I did it the proper way by replacing the struts as well. I then sold it and bought the Cobalt of course.

Your mileage may vary depending on application and the dampers (shocks/struts) that you decide to use.

well i think i like the height of the car, i mean yeah it would look cool lower but now i dont have to worry about smacking my car off of things all the time so the pro kit with its small drop may work for me as long as it make better performance

I would go w/ H&R, since they are available. and your struts will last a lil longer. if you go w/ sportlines, then your struts will blow quick. all depends on how you drive and roads. but really regardless for a nice drop i would go w/ the H&R.

well the pro kit drops the base models like 1.0 front 1.5 rear ( just a estimate) and drops the ss 0 in the front and 0.5 in the rear.

the sportlines drop the base model again i think 2.0 front 2.5 rear while it drops the ss 1.6 front and 1.8 rear.

i saw this in another post they will drop the ss less because it is already lower than the base models stock (keep this in mind)

go with the prokit if you wanna keep the stock look but have alittle better performance and go with the sportlines if you want looks/performance its really up to you. if you dont like either of theese i guess all you can do is wait and see what comes out in the future
