Brembo and Hub Install on 2.2 F23 (PICS)
Brembo and Hub Install on 2.2 F23 (PICS)
I thought I would share my hub conversion and Brembo brake install for others considering to do these mods but don't know what fits, or what to buy.
I previously had 4x100 non-ABS hubs with stock brake kit.
I did a 5x110 hub swap, and redrilled everything to 5x114.3 for a wider selection of rims. Currently I have left the studs in the 110 slots, allowing me to mount these redline rims. Powell did all the machining.
Parts:
(getting hubs with or without ABS will not matter as long as your car currently does not have ABS)
IMPORTANT NOTES:

Parts:
- Powell LNF Brembo brake kit (included bolts, lines and hub spacer) - PC'd white and rotors slotted both through Powell
- HHR front hubs (FW359)
- HHR rear hubs (RW20-107)
- HHR rear drums (any HHR 5 bolt drum will work)
(getting hubs with or without ABS will not matter as long as your car currently does not have ABS)
IMPORTANT NOTES:

$1,820
Including all new parts, powdercoating and machining.
Hub swap isn't necessary if you just want the brakes. I wanted to just do everything at once.
That right there would save you like $650, plus without the powdercoat you save like another 200.
The only thing you cant escape then is the machining cost for the rotor. It will need to be re drilled to 4x100, since they only come in 5x110. This is if you don't do the hub swap. If you do, no machining is necessary. But then it comes down to a cost of like $50 or so to drill rotors to 4x100, or hub swap for $345.
Of course there are many ways to piece together a kit. But I chose new parts, and hub swapping because I prefer new parts and I plan on running larger rims in the variety of 5x114.3. And I was able to afford it at the time.

Okay so It'd cost me about $1400 for everything. But I'd also want to pick up some SS/TC wheels making it cost a bit more.
Guess I'll just upgrade to a better brand of rotors and brakes for the summer.

I did the swap to the lsj fronts and am considering doing this, just kinda feel that if im gonna go do the brembos why not put rear disk on it too. I got rear parts for an 09 lt cobalt and an 06 ss/sc for the front. I also got a hell of a deal on several part. Between the calipers, wheels, and tires I spent $400. Then got all new hubs, pads, rotors, drums and shoes, had the wheels powder coated black and spent a little over $1000. I kept the 5x110 just because I don't feel like having to get rotors machined every time I need to replace them.
How does the balance feel? I love how it feels now but I am curious how the brembo's feel.
