The Coilover Thread!
Question for you guys with coilovers. How do you keep the spring to stay seated properly in the top perch when the suspension is not compressed. Like when your coming off a curb and the back wheel lifts off the ground or when u jack the rear up. My rear shock is at the smallest height possible and it will still let the spring come lose off the top when it's not compressed? Any ideas how I can fix this?

nope just V1 and V2s. Looks like a lot of people dont run V2s. Ill be using them for my STX setup with different spring rates. I have been talking with AST about a custom 5220 setup but then im looking at 6 grand for coilovers. Not bad to have a autoX built setup but I dont have that cash right now :P

I think I could live with KW V2 with adjustable mounts. Camber bolts are okay, but IMO side load the strut internals more, and is less efficient. Plus I'm guessing the plates are going to be less slip prone.
Something like this would be nice:
Ground Control - Camber Plate-STREET BMW E90 (2006-Up 3 Series), E82/E88 (2008-Up 1 Series) (Pair)
Not much caster adjustment, but I can live without crazy caster, which would just cause bump steer anyways.
Why not get the Bilstein coilovers from that one cobalt place? I can't remember the site off the top of my head, on my ipad2 at the moment. I think they were around $3200 or so and are fully adjustable. I was thinking about getting them at one point, they sound/look like a nice kit.
Edit: Nevermind I just read what victory_red_ss said bout them. Well that's good, I don't have to lust after them anymore... Still crappy we have pretty much no good coilovers.

I sent an email to GC about modifying some of their newer strut mounts to fit. Would rather not do a top down, since that would drop the car more. Plus they have some nice double duty strut mounts that aren't full blown metal all the way through. Not a bad option for those of us driving on a semi daily basis.

yeah i would like to try and not use camber bolts. Does anyone make top mounts for a cobalt? besides Pedders when you get their coilovers?
John used the VW ones, but IMO, GC has made better ones since then, and if we could use one of the bottom up designs, we might not have the deflection problems he had. What can I say, I like curb hopping on track.
