linking after strut replacement

So I swapped struts a few days ago I replaced with the Monroe strut kit minus springs. As I was driving for about an hour I get a klunking noise can't exactly tell which side. So I looked and saw the control arm bushings on rear of the arm looked shot so I replaced them the noise has reduced but still present. Ball joints seem ok no noise when I moved them around when I had the arms off. The only the thing I left off of the struts was the plastic ring that goes between the spring and strut could that be the source of my Klink?

Plastic piece could be the cause. Also, check sway bar end link

I had the same problem and it was because the end links were not tight enough. Double check those, especially where they connect to the strut. should use two 18mm wrenches

I've also had front sway bar bushings make a lot of noise as well.

Well I took both tires off checked the sway bar links and those were tight. I took pics of the sway bar bushings with the car in the air. They don't look that worn out wouldn't hurt to change them tho.

Lmfao. That was with the car jacked up and no support on the control arm. But yea ill change them. What size is the sway bar for replacement? I see ranges from 20mms to 24 mm.
Edit I did take a wrench to the links and made sure they were tight. One had turned like an eighth of a turn or less and it seems like the noise has quiet

Thought so! I had someone move my car up and down while I looked and listened for the noise and found the links moving up and down against the car's movement. Instantly thought, "That ************..."

Not to thread jack but how important is it to replace the boots, bump stops, and bearing in the front strut assembly when just replacing the strut? A whole strut assembly comes with all new but no assembly for the FE5, if I were to piece together with new struts and old springs, my price is getting up there.

I might check into a new strut mount. But that's it. Mine were like $30

I reused the boots from my FE1. I also reused the strut mounts but should definitely not have. Got a new pair ready to go in.

That sounds about right. I meant to mention that I'd also put the mounts, had those go out on my old LS. Thank y'all
