My Terrible Ideas
Sooo... Since i lowered my car on H&R the front is great but the back sucks. Its like stock. Long story short front part number is right. Rear part number is wrong. got half money back but no new rears.
So.. I want to cut my rears 1/2 - 1 Coils... Will cutting just the rears be okay?

my fronts have been cut for 4 years...the rears even i wouldnt cut since there isnt a surrounded pirch....my issue is finding a shorter strut or stiffer strut for the front.dont cut em....youll hate it

This. X100. They will not fit the spring perches if you cut them. Save up and spend the money on proper springs or coils that will give you the drop you want.
From a tech site i used to visit and a linked quote i saw today when considering a used crown vic P71... Never Cut your springs with a torch. as it reaches 1000 degrees easily. You can however use a common spring compressor that's used when removing a spring and heat the stock coils at 450 Degrees in your oven to change the height and it wont affect the spring rate (most springs are heat treated and 450 degrees wont be as intense as a torch!).. thats the jist i got of it and i may be mistaken as im alittle drunk! But not wasted! Either way NEVER cut the springs. You will hate the ride unless your going for rat rod modern slobalt look!
I cut my fronts will a cutter wheel.As long as you dont get them too hot,the spring rate shouldn't change.Mine ride the sam as they did before I cut them.But not all springs will react the same way...I still am against it even after having mine for 4 years.I just dont have dough to buy coilovers
You can cut the fronts a little since they are in a strut but not the rears they are only retained by the top and bottom bumpstop so cutting them will cause them to fall out in a turn.
