GMPP rotors, Hawk HPS pads. They aren't the cheapest, but dammit do they work. I had killed the stock pads by 22K miles or so, i've since been through 2 sets of fronts over 40K and the car stops on a dime. Rotors are perfect as well, and they look good.

I run the drilled/slotted R1's with PosiQuiet pads.

Total was right around $300 shipped.

it's a piece of cake, if you were local i'd help you out. there's not one tricky thing about it, it's a really straightforward install.

I had Hawk HPS pads / stock rotors on my GTO. After about 35,000 miles of stopping that 3800lb. behemoth, they were still in good shape when I sold it. I will be putting them on the SS/SC soon. Which EBC rotors are you using and how much were they?

i put them on a couple of weeks ago. they feel fine and are alot better than stock. i just think i still need an alignment because of my sportlines.

For you guys running posi-quiet pads, get an upgraded pad. Those are a basic replacement item, sub-par to a stock pad. Try a Hawk Ceramic, or the HPS if you don't mind a little more dust and a little less life for a nice increase in braking power. You won't regret it, and just the pads aren't expensive, I paid $120 for a full set, front and rear.

i was doing a search on getting new rotors and brake pads and i come across this. im still not satisfied i need more options and price. i have 50k miles on the car and havent touched the brakes since new. you can imagine its time for brake change. are these r1 rotors and pads that cost 300. are they really good i dont care about road racing i just need something that ll stop me good enough and last longer than stock if possible. slotted rotors seems to be what id like to get any ideas?

hey prime how are those ebc and greenstuff working out for u?

I knw that LOTS of people will disagree, but brakes are no place to go cheap. Id say go at the least go for Centric Premium, ACDelco, USA made NAPA rotors or one of the other higher performance name brand direct replacements(Powerslot, EBC, Brembo, DBA) and as far as pads, the same thing applies, name brand ceramic type pads(Hawk Performance Ceramic, Performance Friction Silent Ceramic, EBC Ultimax)

I had 4999's on my Corvette(4000 series, top of the line one piece) and there are Slotted's on my sisters Eclipse(Street Series)

Ive seen/handled/installed the 5000 series two piece units but never used them

i almost had the same problem as you.. my front discs were so jacked from the factory pads, they almost wouldnt resurface them... i put on some acdelco pads and about 3 days later i dropped it off at the shop from being rear ended... so i cant really comment on the pads...

so check this...

My car is about...9 months old and has only 5700 miles on it. My front brakes are starting to squeel. Now I was always told thats when you are supposed to change them. Is this true?

You shouldnt need any brake related parts after only 5700 miles

You need to inspect your front pads and see if they are squealing because youve reached the wear indicator, or if its because there is debris on them, or if its just normal noise from the front pads(they dont like to be babied)

It seems like that whole squeeling thing happens when braking at low speeds...like 10 mph and under. Steppin on the brakes any other time I'm good...kinda pissin me off...
