Rear Pad Issue
Rear Pad Issue
So I think I'm having an issue with my rear, passenger side's pad rubbing against the rotor. When I'm stopped on a minor incline the back makes noise as if it were trying to roll (I have a manual) but the pad is stopping it a little. I heard this yesterday and it was pouring so when I got back to my place I left the car on level ground, in neutral without the e-brake yanked. I was literally able to move the car by twisting the wheel without much issue but I splashed some water on the rotor and after the pad went over it the water pretty much steamed off immediately so I'm guessing some rubbage there. Also the passenger rotor was far hotter than the driver's rotor (all in the rear). These pads were put on July 3 of last year and I've gone a few thousand miles on them, I'd say between 4 and 8, I have short commutes. I'm not a hard braker at all, in fact in the three years I had my Monte Carlo I never had to change the front pads once though the rear drums were done but that was because they hadn't been done in years by the time I got the car.
Anyone have any ideas? I'd rather not go to a mechanic about it because they love to rip you off for brakes, especially up here. I was thinking of just jacking it up, pulling off the wheel and checking it out but hell if I know what I'm looking for in there though I do know how to change disc brakes.

If it were a stuck caliper wouldn't the sound persist even after I stepped on the brake because the caliper wouldn't engage or is it not going in far enough you think and could be out a millimeter or two?
Would a brake flush *which I know I need* matter?

You know as randomly as this appeared it has now disappeared, perhaps braking and pulling on the e-brake enough solved whatever was rubbing. Something to keep an eye out for in the future, that's for sure but weird. Originally I thought that maybe heated water was expanding and pushing out the brake pad because that sort of thing is theoretically possible but this happened not long after I started the car so it wasn't like I was on the road for a while.
