and as you can see the major difference between a drag cage and road coarse cage. regardless you have bars close to your head with a pull cage which unless your hearing a helmet i definately would not recommend street driving. roll bar, harness bar would be a better option

atleast your foot box bars are braced nicely aswell. ive seen some wieeeeeerd crap coming out of cage shops lately using triangular boxing to the rockers rather then square or straight up floor plates. ugh some people never seem to amaze me.

you guys ar forgetting the one main addition to cages. if you plan on running your car at a drag strip or any sanctioned event and you have a cage without approved padding they aren't going to let you run. i know what i'm talking about. i got shut down at my local drag strip at tech because i forgot to put the padding back on after i changed out my harness.

in addition to my above post that was on a 10.90 drag car. i've seen them turn away 12 second evos with cages because they didnt have enough padding on their cage. so whether you decide to cage your car or not make sure you put padding on the bars.

Padding technology has improved as well. I'd run the new SFI hard padding.

we get what your saying. this is exactly my point. could you see smacking your head on the bar while driving on the street? cracked skull, cuncusion or more?

like wangspeed said theres been sooooo many improvements in the industry these days. ive yet to see really any cobalt owners wanting to get down and dirty and put a serious cage in the car except a select few. rod with the rwd conversion prostreet cobalt, the gm phase cars, koni series georgia bay cars, time attack car etc etc. ryan at zzp has a 10 point i believe but thats about as serious of a cage as i have seen in these cars for something on the street. if i were the op i would just get a harness bar unless you plan on doing some serious go fast mods on the track weather it be road or drag.

my camaros not remotely close to being finished. cage is done and the chassis and suspension are all finished up now but i still have a ways to go on it. going from a high 9 sec car to a 7.50 25.5 car

All that being said, unless you are doing over 100 mph every day ripping e-brakes or run quicker than an 11.99 you dont need a cage and would be a waste of money to do so.

I believe you need a cage at 11.50 not 11.99
