Spring spacer/pucks?????
Spring spacer/pucks?????
Hey everyone. I picked up an ls cobalt recently. Im currently out of state but I will be back home in a few weeks and plan on working on it. If any of you read my "new to the forum" introduction you see what kind of trash the previous owner did to the car. Which Im already working on correcting
ANYWAY ... to the point of this thread. I plan on lowering the car with b&g's and fe5 shocks and struts. I love the stance ive seen on them so far. Now Im very heavily into high end car audio and plan on doing a mild build but a build no less. Im worried about weight in the rear. So say I lower the car and after i build my stereo and the gaps become too uneven are there any "puck/block" type of spacers offered to correct it? I know they make spring spacers but i havent been able to track any down for our cars.
This again is only a "what if" but there will be a stereo going in eventually. Now my definition of mild to your definition will differ unless you are big in the stereo game. I mild build to me will be most likely as followed:
single 15, custom enclosure in 4th order band pass trunk wall. upgraded battery/batteries, big three upgrade, h.o alternator with about 2-3k rms.
So again the million dollar question, do they make spring spacers for our car and do they make them in different sizes? Much appreciated guys!

this is pretty much what i would want if my car happened to unevenly sag after i built the stereo. I just dont know if they are universal or car specific

Ok i know they make universal spacers, so since im about 1000 miles away from my cobalt does anyone know what size the diameter our rear springs are at the base on the back axle ? Thats all i think i would need to know to add a spacer just incase i get revers rake. I plan on going with b&gs and im trading an ar lower receiver for fe5 shocks and struts when i get back home and i know the b&gs get the lowest but often give too much sag in the front so with a combination of stereo and sagging i may need these spacers
Please dont put spacer blocks in your suspension.
If your extremely worried about sag get coilovers, but on my stock rear springs with 200+lbs of box, subs and amps my rear only sags about half an inch, it actually looks better that way lol.

im not too worried just hate reverse rake is all. I still have time to decide .... Its my 3rd car and just got a new job so my hands are a little full, just trying to do as much research as I can before i start spending my money ya know?
I actually used those donuts on the rear springs of my car. I have a sub box in the trunk that lowered it down too far. It lifted it up enough to where the gap wasn't too noticeably different than the front. I had no problems with them back there either. I ended up getting coilover later on and that obviously fixed the problem with the different wheel gaps.
I used spring spacers a long time ago, but if you really want some -- and various levels of stiffness, go to NASCAR, sprint car, or dirt track oval racing support parts sites and you can find everything you need. Look around.
