which springs?

Ok, so I'm new to cars as most of you can see. I have just taken a interest in them and wish to learn alot about them. That's where you guys come in because I need answers from you guys, and I will be having alot of questions. I will use the search button as much as possible. I want to get springs for my cobalt to lower it, but I dont know which ones to get. I've heard good from the sportlines. I'm not exactly the richest guy so I want to try to save some money. When I do get them will a guy like me who does not have car expierence be able to install them? My dads friend is into racing and he races a porcshe so I might ask him to help. If that doesnt happen how much am I looking at to get them installed? Thanks alot.

i bought some from thmotorsports for 156 shipped, should be here in a few days. as for the install it should take no longer than an hour and a half to install at a shop (thats with lots of breaks). its really an easy install if you have a spring compressor

Thanks guys. How much will the install cost. I don't want the shop workers see I'm new and rip me off. I would like a rough estimate.

I got sportlines and I don't have any complaints.

The ride height looks great and the ride comfort is great too!

If I could change my springs by myself, you can too. I just followed the how-to's on this site. You would probably end up paying $200+ for spring installation. For that price you can buy the tools needed to do it yourself. At the end of the installation, you will have both the experience under your belt and have the tools for future use.

Thanks lot xm15. That is true. I saw the guide on the site too and I think I can do it myself. I would really like to avoid throwing the $200 in the shop for installation.

200 bucks is enough to buy a lot of things, why not save it by doing the install yourself. follow the written how to exactly and you should be fine

if you have problems, we'll help you get through em

Rent yourself a spring compressor at autozone or advance, get a low pro jack, 2 jackstands, and a socket set.

Then install them yourself in the driveway.

It's a pretty simple project.

if you want to do it right, look into getting some Koni's (aftermarket struts/shocks) as well...I don't care what anyone says, riding on stock struts on a lowered car blows...I've done it and after getting Koni's, couldn't believe I actually did that to myself...lol
