SSC springs/shocks weight limit?
SSC springs/shocks weight limit?
Hey everyone, I'm moving to socal on saturday and need some help on what the weight limit is for the ssc springs/shocks. I just got done loading all of my stuff into my car and every square inch is packed with my stuff. Seeing my car drop another 1 1/2 in. in the back end has me a little worried. It looks awesome being slammed, but I'm starting worry my suspension is gonna give out on me during my 4 1/2 hour drive to socal. Anyone have any information on how much extra weight I can put on the suspension?
truthfully i think you should be fine. i have the eibach pro- kit on my car with stock shocks/struts and i moved all of my things from home to college and vise- versa a couple times over a 3hr drive and never had a problem, a little bouncy and touchy at times but that was it. when i was in a dorm i could get everything in my car with the trunk packed full and my back seats down and that whole area full of totes packed with all my clothes
From what i understand, SSC's have a very similar spring rate to stock. The only thing is that you've lowered yourself on stock shocks so there is an increased chance of them blowing out from riding fully compressed like that.
Inside the door there is the specs for max capacity and load ratings. Be sure to put the proper pressure in your tires as well.
It's a chance but I think you should be okay if you take it easy and watch for big bumps and pot holes. You might actually just blow out a tire instead of the suspensions failing if hitting a big enough pot hole.
Just to give you an idea, I loaded up my 2004 GTO with everything I could when I moved from PA back to MA (almost a 6 hour drive) and that suspension sat just like yours. I had Zero issues but I had pedders zero drop springs - I was riding on bump-stops with it fully loaded though.

Well I still have my stock shocks/springs. I'm assuming the shocks i have right now are ssc, i just bought them off a local guy and he said they were ssc lowering springs so I don't know too much about them. I just now they lowered my ride a lot compared to stock.
