Strut mounts

Are strut mounts known for going out on these cars? Mine has 118k currently. I jacked up the front and the tie rods and end links are tight, lower ball joint is solid and control arms feel good. I can feel a "slight slop" when I wiggle the wheels. Over small bumps it sounds like a clunk. Just an awful noise in milwaukee roads. Any ideas?

the wiggle is more likely from a bad wheel bearing or tie rod end. the mounts dont usually fail, but they can lose their stiffness over time. Check for tears in the rubber in the strut mount, and also check for tears in the lower control arm bushing. You can stick a breaker bar in there and pry the control arm up and down at the location of the bushing. after you pry it upward, then downward, if it doesn't return to the original position, the bushing is bad. This won't always indicate a tear though -just separation from the inner shaft which is another common failure.

wiggle the wheels using the steering wheel or by hand? u-joint on the lower steering shaft goes on these cars as well.
