I should have a pretty interesting little car after adding the lowering springs (I am thinking Cobalt-Addiction since they aren't too low on the front at .75 inch unless they are prone to sag early) the end links and then my other mods (ttr rear sway bar, bwoody rear bar, DC front strut bar, 235/40 tires)

Anybody have experience with the CA lowering springs? I like the idea of Eibach for reliability and no sag but the CA springs down go quite as low and are said to have a better ride for about 40-60 bucks cheaper too.

What coilovers are the best as far as being able to adjust and the smoothness of the ride? I really want to know before i spend over a grand on something like this. Thanks in advance.

I honestly can't tell you for sure, but I can tell you that all of them have a ton of settings to use. I would read through the forums not all coil over kits are created equal. Some folks have had issues on here with fitment.

I read your post but I'm not quite sure whether or not stock SS includes SS/NA or Sport with the SS/SC and SS/TC?? Do they both have the same upgrade? I know the suspensions are slightly different between the SS/NA and Sport when compared to the SC and TC cobalts.

Also, I read a post similar to this on another site saying that a 1.6" drop on a cavalier would require struts (preferably lowering struts). My main question is if there is a given limit on drop when you would need to get struts? I'm looking into getting the arkperformance lowering springs and they say 1.3" in the front and about 1.57" in the back (that's an approximation since they say -30mm front and -40mm back). If i'm correct in my thinking any lift is going to create extra pressure on the struts no matter how large the drop is.... right?

FE3(2.4L) suspension isnt different enough imo to make it worth "upgrading" too, when people talk about SS suspension, I would say its safe to assume that FE5(2.0L) suspension is whats being talked aout.

a 30/40mm drop wont hurt your struts/shocks unless you dive bomb over every bump you find, thats a relatively mild drop and the stock shocks will be just fine. Its not the drop that hurts them, its constantly bottoming out, or very hard bottoming.

Tirerack.com has struts for cobalt ss's now. We should update the sticky. I'll continue reading this long read now.

Nobody really addresses anti-roll bar upgrades in these pages. I've got a question about FE3 to FE5 front bar upgrades. On Crateenginedepot.com it lists two different types of brackets and bushings for the 24mm bar. Which do I need?

Question:

I have the option of cheap linear springs made in any weight and size I want. Being that they are linear would the shape of the springs interfere with either the front of back suspension on install. ei: will they clear the front struts and sit properly and will they clear the read bump stops properly and seat well?

They need od, id, spring rate and length of springs to make them. Being linear wouldn't they be the same size coils all the way down the spring, since companies use different coil sizes to produce progressive rate springs?

I also understand that linear springs don't "ramp up" and become harder as they compress. Are the stock cobalt tc springs linear or progressive. Have searched a lot but no solid answers.

With coilovers, don't most of them come with a new strut now? Those kits have the whole thing, not just a sleeve, right?

Okay thanks. I went through the first post (obviously new around here) and thought to myself: Why would I buy a new strut for a Coilover, if the coilover comes with a new strut ;P

I've got a question, I installed megan racing springs on my SS N/A and have a squeaking but also like my spring is hitting metal or something? If anyone has any thoughts you can respond to this or email me theryansmithproject@gmail.com
