Interesting thread...

I'd just like to point out that the SS/SC already has a 22mm rear sway bar that is welded on and sits inside the torsion beam.

Now if we take a look at the LNF cobalt, which has nurburing track record beating suspension, we see that GMPD bumped it up to 24mm.

I'm not going to question whether the design of the TTR bar works or not, but if GMPD only increased the diameter by 2mm with fantastic results, I would be just slightly cautious to adding a whopping 25.7mm on top of the stock 22mm bar.

Check out DC Sports or MRZ the MRZ one is really nice, and you can get a custom design on it.

Took me about 20 - 25 mins to install.

Soon we will have that ready 100% 6061 T6 Aircraft Grade aluminum, 1 welded unit, does not "bolt together" like other aluminum strut bars which are not 100% rigid.

Thanks for the arrogant reply. What exactly are you trying to achieve with your suspension that calls for such a stiff rear end? I happen to know that this car's handling is quite balanced and you can dial in understeer and oversteer properties just by adjusting tire pressure. I can have the rear end coming out under no throttle and then have it track beautifully around a turn under throttle - all with the stock suspension.

Do you even know what would happen if you had to make a turn in an emergency braking situation? The rear end starts to come loose with the stock sway bar already!

And you call yourself an autocrosser. With the mods you have/planning to do, you would be competing in a class that would put you against much bigger fish. Have fun!

Sway bars in general are not worthless, on this car they dont do much.
you may get different results from the FE5 suspension but in MY car it felt alot less sloppy on the very first turn I took and it wasn't even at high speed.

I agree, and the only reason I brought anything up was because this was originally posted in the 2.4. I cant say that I can speak for everyone, I can only speak for me. Thats all I was trying to do in this entire thread, give people my opinion from my experiences.

I just remember reading so many positive reviews about the progress bar so I bought it. I feel like I wasted money on it cause I never noticed a difference in handling, not even a little bit. So I figured I would give that opinion to others on the board, cause thats what a forum is all about.

And TTR, Im sorry I claimed to have your sway bar. I bought it so long ago and I saw the picture of yours and it looked identical to mine so I assumed it was the one I bought.

I dont disagree with that at all. I run a 2.4. I just hate reading all this stuff where people flame others for their opinions. But you may want to state in the beginning of your post that it is your OPINION and thats what it is. Cause it really did seem like you were stating a fact.

No need for bashing, just friendly sharing of information. It not like we are actually viing for anymoney or pinks. why fight. share grow and learn.

EDIT: Is there such a bar in the front of the vehicle that can be replaced with a stiffer one? Stabilization bar i think its called. See, Id love to tighten up my suspension. Dont exactly have the money nor the driveway clearance to lower my vehicle. xD its like a foot drop off my drive.

Then if you really don't want the sway bar, and its still in good shape with all the hardware, post it in the classified section for $50 + S&H and I am sure that someone would buy it.

In order to notice you have to know what you are looking for. I didn't buy the bar because I wanted less body roll. I bought it because I wanted the car to be "looser" through turns. The bar did help a little, which is all I really wanted anyway. Usually cars are designed to "push" in turns so that there is no chance of the back coming around. Also because our cars are front heavy, they "push" even more.

Even though GM calls it a stabilizer bar, its really a sway bar.

If you are stock, you could upgrade to the FE5 front sway bar, it is just a little thicker than the one on your car. You can pick one up from CED. Installation can be difficult, I believe that you have to drop the engine cradle to get to and replace the bar.

Wow, you can make a 1 weld unit to clear all of the crap in the engine bay. I have to see this before believing this.

It is even a "Double Bar" design, like you see sometimes DC Sports offers, but all aluminum.
