M62 lsj/le5 Frankenstein Malibu

HAS ANYBODY DONE THIS YET???

For starters the project car in question is a 2012 malibu 2.4 le5
I have a cobalt ss supercharged car for parts and extra cash

I want like to build a little sleeper with maybe 350hp maybe more will it happen idk I know id most likely have to get bottom end internals and cams and springs I just need some help on what would be the best components to get and potentel things to look out for and more importantly insight and answers on how to get it done right and get it to make good power

I have a few questions about doing this whole project thing I've heard of people doing the lsj/le5 swap in cobalts and even a cavaleir the first question is going to be which computer is gonna be the best the malibus computer the cobalt ss superchargeds and if so the cobalts will everthing (speedo tach heat&ac etc) in the cabin of the malibu some how work with the computer through oem plugs or by hardwireing or should i say screw it and try make a standalone ecu work

Another Question is strictly mechanical with the lsj/le5 is the crank timing gear is that a easy swap over or can i use the lsj crank or be better off buy a new crank or what i still dont really know what im doing for this part

And i Think last question is it even worth it or should i just strap the super charger to it make it make cool sound and keep it as a 220 whp everyday driver

Honestly you be better off buying a 07+ Cobalt or G5 and bolting the supercharger on to one of those cars. Its a much easier job and basically bolts and 07 plus models can be tuned easily with HP tuners. The Malibu you got will probably need a lot of modification for the m62 to fit properly in your engine bay. Not saying its impossible just a lot more work than you might think if you have no prior experience tackling a job like this. The other option is sell your Malibu and buy a 05-07 Cobalt SS Supercharged or Ion Redline. The Redlines might be a bit harder to find but the Cobalts should be fairly easy even if its in the next nearby state.

I get that but a cobalt isnt really a sleeper and i like the look of the malibu and ease of 4 doors (4 door cobalt don't look good in my eyes sorry) not just that id like to have something that not many people have if any and its not like im not up for the challenge i just don't wanna run in into something head first with barely any knowledge with ecus and tuning and what works with what and how to bypass anything im more knowlegable to older distributer carburator tuning more engine mechanics kinda deal and a very very very basic understanding of tuning itself and Hp Tuner has support for my factory ecu not saying that will help my ecu have support for the supercharger and or the nonvvti heads or if itll bypass things

I know it's been done many times over but you should just do a LSx swap. Plenty of parts available, lots of LS engines in the junkyards and endless power options available. You want a sleeper, throw in an engine pushing north of 700 HP. Way easier than using a LSJ Ecotec and you don't need all of the custom parts to mate the driveline up.

I forgot another option which others have done which is a turbo kit from zzp for the 2.2/2.4 cobalt but it'll work with modication for the malibu. I attached the link you'll see down in the reviews a guy boosted his malibu with that kit. I would sell the m62 and all the parts and buy that turbo kit. it'll be easier and you still will be a sleeper with the turbo.

REALLY GAVE THE CAR SOME *****

I installed this on a 2008 Malibu 2.4 with 4t45e transmission a few years back, its my winter ******. I would say with this kit it out performs the 3.6 Malibu. the 4t45e seems to be holding up just fine. This kit was not plug and play i had to modify the inter cooler piping, the down pipe, coolant lines, transmission lines, a/c lines, front facia, ect. The turbo fits nicely i modified the a/c lines get them away from the turbo. If I lived closer to zzp I would definitely dyno tune this car. I have other dreams for this car, but being that it is 12 years old now they aren't really realistic since its a winter ******. Summer cars are 2010 Camaro and 2015 Corvette. (wife and I switch off) Converting it to Manual and installing a built engine and turning the boost up is my dream. A dream since 2009. I love the 2.4 ecotec and with this kit its definitely got ***** and pretty much bullet proof if you change your oil and use full synthetic! Cobalt drivers this is a must! Also make sure you get rid of that factory exhaust, i've had a magnaflow exhaust since 2012!

I guess i could sell the m62 for that kit which would be my preferable way of boosting it but my understanding was supercharging was easy especially considering i already have basically what was a running cobalt ss im also trying to keep it down in price but honestly im just think about saying screw it buying a universal radiator/heat exchanger and pump and sending it that way and either buying/renting hptuners or bite the bullet try to find one of the few tuners around and ask them to try to get like 240 because either way i do it supercharger or turbo if im gonna want some serious sleeper power ill have to build the block and im not really in the positon to yank out the engine and build it and is ther anyway to do both with out a clutch on the supercharger and a cutoff valve or several valve but ive also read of some guy putting them in line with each other and "had crazy wheel spin in 2nd and 3rd"but i didnt look enough in it or saw dyno or even engine pics if i remember right
