*/EDIT FOT THE WHINERS*

My friend Scott has a 2003 Z06 6-speed and a bunch of us are always out screwing around. His car did something to the tune of 460whp on the last dyno day we had and it is QUICK. Even a 600+whp Cobra can barely beat him. So a couple nights ago we were out screwing around and I decided to go all out with the Redline since this is the last weekend on the blower before the turbo goes on.

Here are the results. First race both in second gear at about 40mph and of course the drag radials on my car just roast off and he's ahead of me by like two cars already and I had to let off. The brand new SPEC stage 4 was slipping already in this race, but once it slipped that one time bad it didn't really let go again all night.

This is the GOOD race. We both were at about 50mph in third gear. I honked and admittedly took a slight jump on him and we just kept going to about 150 or so before we let off. Check the white lines in the road lol.

You are right... Here is the first! Why would the vette be in 3rd gear going 50mph? Think about it.. he is in 2nd gear (bottom of 2nd because those gears are LONG) when they go from 40mph, but then is in 3rd gear going only 10mph faster??!!

To the thread starter, I wouldn't let these results go to your head thinking you have a 'ZO6 killer'..

It almost seems as though he is not on it that much at all in the second race. Nice redline though. Looks clean.

ok so they raced again and the vette started in the wrong gear... wich would give the ion a bit of a head start but then wouldnt the vette start to walk by him as soon as the ion shifted, unless the ion is pushing some serious hp

WTF are you talking about? I take 2nd to about 80. I'm on a 25.7" (245/45R17 Nitto 555R) tire with no rubbing BTW. **** third will go clear to about 120 and I know 4th will go to about 155 or so according to HP Tuners. 5th should be good for right about 200. Put some bigger tires on your car and make your life easier on the amount of shifting you do. You can go an inch taller and an inch wider than stock with no rubbing at all.

And we were starting in third because the clutch was slipping on the 2-3 upshift in my car for some reason, but it would hold just fine in third. He started in third because we were going to go from about 60, but ended up honking at 50. Regardless...he never caught up you know?

If you all want to see me running 11s, come to PRP in Pittsburgh, PA Wednesday night.

i have the max size i can put on my rims.. and 65 is what it goes to. on a 2.7inch pulley... idk if there is any diffrence in maybe tire pressure or elivation but thats what i **** at 65.. which is when the light on my ladder tach flashes red at 7300 rpms

7300 is not 7500, and with taller tires you def have more mph in each gear.

You have the max size? So you should be running a 245/45R17 or 235/50R17 or so. Believe me, a 1" tire difference makes about a 4% difference which will affect your speedo by about 2.5mph at 60mph and as you go faster it throws it off more. TRUST US man, we run our cars hard. If I say I'm shifting at 80mph in 2nd at 7500rpm, you can bet your sweet ass that's what I'm doing.

And if the Vette and the Saturn both start in the same gear, at the same speed, and are able to go to the same speed in the same gear...then wouldn't you consider that a pretty even race?

The difference is 4.3% and your doing 62.6mph when your speedo says 60mph.

That's all I have to add.

To the thread starter, I wouldn't let these results go to your head thinking you have a 'ZO6 killer'..

A Z06 does 62mph in first gear so starting in 3rd from a 50 roll is dumb. Hell even with the Z51 geared T-56 I start in second from a 45-50mph roll.

I am pretty sure the OP's car will not run high 10's low 11's so a Z06 killer it is not.
