2.2 vs. a Toyota Solora
2.2 vs. a Toyota Solora
Ok so back right when i got my cobalt my girl got a new car, a 2000 Toyota Solora. I didn't really think much of it at first till one day i decided to go online and check out the specs of her car. 200hp and only 3300 pounds ,so i was like ****, dont tell me girl can take my cobalt. So last week the weather warmed up and i asked her if she wanted to race me. At first she wasn't to fond of the idea but she lightened up. So i got a 2.2 w/ a cai and sticky tires(5sp) and she has an stock auto. So we line up and she takes me off the line, i hit 2nd and start to catch up after my wheels stop spinning and then by the end of 2nd going into 3rd i had a half a car on her then when i hit 4th i had about a full car. Now i said we were only gonna go up to 100 so i stopped. Yeah she didn't though, i got back up to a 100 and was chasing her and she was just pulling away,i hit about 118 and then just gave up she was too far ahead. When she topped out her car she stopped and went into the best buy parking lot near by. i asked her how fast she hit. She said "well my spedometer hit 140, then i let off cause it topped out" i was like ****. So i might have my girls car to 100 but after that she has got me. I dont think i will ever get that fast, even with a 2.4 intake and full exhaust. But anyone with a 2.2 knows once you hit 110 yeah, its ova if the other car is still going.
Rev limiters FTL.
Stories like this make me love that I had my old Neon. It may have only had 132 to the crank, but it did every bit of what the 120 MPH speedo said it would (It was governed to 119, but that's close enough). It was stupid as hell going that fast in a base-model Neon, but winning races because the other guy's rev limiter kicked in were always an event to laugh at.
Of course, I also had a three-speed auto, so winning didn't happen so much
