2.4 vs WRX
2.4 will most likely lose from a dig or a roll unless WRX driver messes up.
2.4 vs RS
2.4 might stand a chance from a roll but dont quote me, Im no expert on Subaru

WRX will kill you, you will kill a 2.5RS.

Even though the cobalt and the 2.5RS have similar sized motors and power, the AWD on the subaru does nothing in the 2.5RS but add weight and add friction.

I agree the WRX will put a hurting on a 2.4. A new RS would probably win from a stop just because of the awd, but it would be close from a roll (similar power (cobalt:171/163 RS: 173/166) and similar weight(2991 vs 3016 ). Older RS's are probably very similar

The 2.4 is much of a match for the WRX roll or not, stock of course. As far as the 2.5rs goes, well I mostly see 15.4ish for a good driver on the 1/4 mile. But this is at 87mph, so its all in the lauch. 15.0-15.2 with intake an exhaust seems about an average too....

BEST N/A I've seen a timeslip for was around 14.2....and that was alot of internals, intake, header, exhaust etc etc....

Not alot of people put that kinda money into the 2.5rs though, they just skip right to the turbocharged motor swap....

The 2.4SS is actually a bit lighter then that. More around 2815lbs.
GM Canada Chevrolet Cobalt SS 2.4 Stats

A 2.5RS runs 7.9 0-60 and 15.9 @89MPH 1/4 mile

You will destroy a 2.5 RS, they are very slow, I used to beat on them in my stock Alero.

I too played with a stock looking 04 WRX. I was just about dead even with him from a
2nd through 4th gear roll on. We didn't run from a dig.
