Thumbs up Beat a 5.0!

I was at a gas station and this guy with a 5.0 asked if anyone wanted to race. So i said hell yeah. We ran 2 times. Both at about 45ish so i was in 2nd. (mods in sig). Anyways, the first run i beat him by about 3/4 of a car. Second run we were almost dead even until 4th then i got like a foot infront of him. It was an older on with exhaust and he said someother stuff but nothing special. Back at the gas station i heard him tell his friends "i had no idea those little cars were so fast! I never got beat by one before!" Thought that was kinda cool. He also didnt believe that i still have a stock pully and injectors but i do.

I take it you have an SS/SC. Good kill... I've always liked (and wanted to run/kill) a Fox Body.

I LOVE killing Mustangs.

they aren't that impressive compared to the ss/sc's. I ran one from 40-80. He couldn't even launch that good from a light. Made an awesome ricer fly-by though....

5.0s are weak, they make less hp than most our v6's now and days, hell a 350z will dust a 5.0, **** a sti will walk do circles to them...i personally hate people with 5.0's who think they are the **** cuz they have a 5L engine, like it makes that much power anyway, stock to stock the ss/sc will take a 5.0, 50 to heavy and no enough power...

He sucks then. With just suspension, Gears, and slicks... a 5.0 will pick the front tires off the ground. They aren't known for being a hard car to launch... quite the opposite actually.

And no... in stock form, they aren't that fast... but they can be VERY EASILY modded to be very fast.

Indeed.

They make less power than the Mustang V6's of today... and also weigh A LOT LESS. They are fun cars, easy to mod, and can be very fast. Watch 1 season of Pinks... and then tell me how many 5.0 mustangs you see compared to all the other cars you just listed above.

actually some of the 5.0's will give a VERY good run stock for stock. And $ for $ mod wise...see ya. The 5.0's aren't the greatest, but don't underestimate them. there are alot of sick nasty fast ones out there.

Indeed! Very true... I keep forgetting that my Stg2 isn't stock! Haha.

I am actually looking to possibly pick up a 5.0 Hatchback later this year. Plan to make a beast out of it.

Very true...

In the 1/4-mile, a properly driven well-maintained stock 5.0 Fox very well may give a stock SS/SC a run for their money.

Heck, back in the day, a small handful went HIGH 13's bone stock.

They might not make a lot of power, but the 302 cubes makes for a relatively broad powerband, and a 5-speed LX Notchback or Hatchback is typically significantly lighter than any of the V8 94-04's or any S197's, even the V6's.

Better watch out talking smack on the fox bodies. Few cheap mods in one of those and you'll be wishing you hadnt raced him. Good kill tho.

I had a 86 GT 5.0 5 speed hatch. It was the fastest in town that year. Mine came with the 'good' gears (327 instead of 273) for that year. Dealer said it depended what day of the week it was built on as to which gear went in the rear end. the rest of the local GTs had the 273 gears I learned at the 1/8 mile track in this car. Had a ball with it

I had an 04 GT 40th Anniversary 5 speed. It was nicer still. Had a 75 dry shot on top of the 4.6 and a Jet chip in it. Was pretty sweet. It was my show car.

The 06 SS/SC I have now.... It's so much more of a beast than either of those ever were.

Good kill there for you!

slow... no.. im just not gonna say its more powerful then my mustang.. because.. its not .. and nither is any cobalt on this site..

you just dont know how to build a stang if you had 4.6 + juice and slower then an ss/sc.. perhaps you should learn how to build a motor?
