i always see this blue 04 cavalier running around town always doing ricer flybys to everyone with his fart can, i finally got him to stop and talk and ask him to race me, turns out its manual with a make it yourself intake and fart can, im thinkin ok i got this.....not the case, he walked me a few cars from 30 to 70 WTF im not trying to be cocky but i can drive my car well, i couldnt believe it who new cavys could be that quick lol

yeah its just that your slow. there are a few around my way that try to race me all the time and they keep up pretty well. My car is an autotragic though.

Cavi's can actually be pretty quick. They weigh like 400 lbs less than a cobalt.

 

they have the same engine

 

engine in the 04 cavys is 140 hp and 150 ft/lb tq, the cobalts L61 is 145hp and 155 ft/lb of tq. The stock 04 cavy is only rated to run a mid to low 16 in the 1/4 mile which is no faster then a ls cobalt, infact its slower

Seeing as you have an actual intake and full catback compared to his ghetto mods, you should have won...

 

yah dude fail...i dunno what happened...i have an LS...intake intake mani head DP and almost full exhuast and i bury a 2.4 cavi with intake....i mean bury....my cousin drives it

 

The 2.4 in Z Cavy's makes 150 hp, so that's no feat.

Uhhhh.... I had an auto 2.4L before my SS and I walked Cavi's with light mods like nothing. They definitely should not keep up with you if they're near stock.

x2, Cavi's are very slow near stock. Also, there's no telling if the Cavi had more then he was telling you.

 

yea 2.2 eco cav's can be pretty quick, i had a intake and ebay muffler and i ran a 15.3 at 88mph and i had a auto. there are a few sleepers out there

 

Dude not to sound like a dick but if ur gonna post a war story make sure ur racing cars with ***** or have a car that has a pair. Leave them cobalts ls for the grocery go getters and pick up something more aggressive. Sorry for sounding like a douche bro.

Trade that LS in or sell it, right now if you search around you can get a nice cobalt ss/tc for around 16k with like 10k miles on it,get a few boltons like an intake and a downpipe and tune it. Next time you see that cavy you will blow by like a freight train. Thats the reason I got my ss/tc. Used to have an Isuzu rodeo, thing had zero *****,only good for winter time, then got my balt its a whole new ball game.

 

Not everyone cares about speed or can afford the insurance on a SS.

At the end of the day my car, your car, anybody's car is still a grocery getter. With 500 hp your Cobalt is still a grocery getter. It may have *****, but just thought I'd make sure no one here thinks there Chevrolet Cobalt is not an econobox grocery getter with *****.

 

Yea well sorry Mr. Rogers isnt here to feel your sympathy. Just giving the man some advice, hes here telling his fellow cobalt owners on how he got smoked by a cavy, id feel pretty bad myself.

Lol true that I must've had the wrong definition stuck in my head when I thought of grocery go getter but then again comparing a sport compact to regular LS which one weighs more on a grocery go getters side. If you want to drive a regular LS thats fine,its a great car, will get you from point A to point B, is reliable and will get u excellent gas milage but please dont post on here saying you lost a race, its not a track car. LS is very reliable, just dont advise you racing it thats all.

Just so you know I picked up my ss/tc for 17k after taxes with only 150 miles on it, pretty much new. Besides I never advised to get it for 24k.Just so you can do some research nancy

 

04 - 05 cav's have the same eco 2.2 140 hp and 155 lb of tq.....
06 balt 2.2 145 hp and 155lb of tq...

minus 400lb's for the cav..... it's a drivers race..

 

I had a 02 Z24 with a 2.4 Quad motor ( 150hp) . It went 15.2 -.3 stock ....... my younger brother had a 98 Z24 with the same motor and went 15.1 with a catback and intake..... ( that quad 4 scattered all over RT219 up here ......... a rod made a window in the block with 19K miles on her lol ).

They were pretty quick back in the day when the other cavalier motor was a 110 hp 2.2 lol. There were some 185hp quads dropped in the beretta GTZ and a 190hp HO version in the Achieva SCX
