Cobalt SS/SC vs Focus ST

EDIT:I meant for the heading to say "Cobalt SS/TC vs Focus ST" SC stories welcome too.

I had a '07 SS/SC, started modding it tastefully, then traded it off for a '13 Focus ST.

Already ordered a Tune, FMIC, 3" Intake Tube, FRPP Snorkel w/ K&N and 3" 400 cell catted downpipe.

Just wondering if anyone on here has encountered and raced a ST yet, and how did you fair? mods you/them?

I did a 40 roll with my buddy after he bought one, he was stock and I was tuned. Put busses on him lol. With any turbo car though once it's tuned it'll obviously be a good bump in power. I drove his car and liked it. Nice interior but I'm just not a hatch kinda guy

I was in Mexico :::cough::: and had a chance to run a 04 SRT4 w/ light mods (cai, intercooler, dp, exhaust - not sure if it was tuned) and walked him. I also had a chance to run a Sonic, the goofy hatch one I can't remember which one it is. He actually gave me a run until I hit 2nd and pulled a bit before having to let off mid way through 3rd to make my exit back to the US :::cough:::

I know the ST's are taking over 400whp/wtq on the stock block, and one right now at 530whp (not sure wtq). The stock fuel system seems to cap off after 400whp/wtq range, yet with a turbo swap and supporting upgrades some are still using the stock clutch and a tune are taking it pretty well.

I'm doing the FRPP kit w/ recalibration, plugs, snorkel & filter with the added Mountune FMIC, BRMP 3" intake tube, and Magnaflow 3" 400 cell count down pipe. I'm going to dyno before, after FRPP kit and FMIC, and after 3" intake tube and 3" downpipe added to those and see what numbers it's laying down. On the FRPP kit alone one guy is hitting 248whp/354wtq on 92oct with a small K03 turbo, which is at a disadvantage to the K04 the LNF's have.

They're not fast. I've got a buddie who used to own a redline who now has one (I'm not sure if hes still on here). I rode in it with him. They're not really that fast. But they have a much nicer interior than the inside. As far as how the run went. It wasn't close, but it was more just dicking off.

I've been wanting to race one since they came out.

Couple guys have em that go to the local meets. They were asking my buddy about my car and racing me, but backed off when he told them the power I was making on E85.

^^^thats what usually happens when u got ur 4banger making over 400whp+ no other stock turbo car is going to run you there scared of rape...so u have to go after the v8s and then they dont want to race u because it would be embarracing for them to loose...i had similar **** happened to me when i had my turbo lsj...i actually had more runs when my car was closer to stock than when i was fully moded...

I was over on the ST forum the other day checking out their dyno section.

Ever see one of their graphs?? The torque curve looks like a ski slope (spikes and drops hard).

I looked at them because I thought about buying one; slow.

I ran one in my SS/SC. Car lengths from a roll and I think the ST is actually worse at launching than a SS

i like them a lot. nice cars. I raced a friend's ST with him having some bolt ons and tune (I can't remember what all he had tho) and I have full bolt ons with a tune. I walked it pretty hard.

It's a hatch version of the balt with either a K03 or a turbo similar in size. It'll be similar to racing a GTI in that regard. They struggle to break 300whp with full boltons and a tune, high 200's with gobs of torque. Sold my 09 Sedan TC, got a Mustang, now contemplating getting an ST or 335 for the 4 doors. Moral of the story, should of kept the balt......
