Eclipse scared off, V6 Accord ain't nothin.
Hey all... went out for a little cruise last night. Not much action, but I got a good laugh out of these two non-races.
Was on Harris BLVD (4-laner, 45 limit). When I rolled up on a red 2g eclipse in traffic. Lowered, decent set of rims, euro tails, fart cannon, stock small wing, and the god awfulest monster tach I'd ever seen... I bet the thing was atleast 4 inches across. We were 3 or 4 cars back in traffic at a light, so I revved at him a couple of times just to see if he wanted to play.
I didn't get any responce, so when the light went green I moved on with traffic, cut around a couple of cars, and ended up infront of the pack. At this point I was just riding, but as I pull up to the next light who rolls up beside be but Mr. little red eclipse again. This time I was 1 car back and he had noone infront of him.
The light went green and I noticed he took his time getting off the line, he hung back about a car behind me... I guess trying to figure out what the heck I was... until the car infront of me turned off. This left us with open road for a good mile or so. I slowed to about 30 and he rolled up and passed me, then hit his brakes and slowed down. I dropped it into 2nd and slowed to about 20, we were side by side. I had just lifted my hand to tap the horn when he suddenly decided he didn't want any. He pulled a u-turn in the middle of the road and headed out in the other direction. Maybe he figured out that I wasn't a base model Cobalt LOL.
Feeling a little cheated I got to the end of Harris and turned onto Independance, headed towards home. I got to a light, nobody around... and who decides to roll up on me but two teens in mom's V6 Accord 4-door... windows down and stock stereo blaring. Now the lane they were in ended about 1/8th mile down, so noone ever gets in that lane unless they intend to pass you before it merges. Kind-of a given race situation.
I decided to play for the hell of it. When the light went green I laid on the gas a bit heavy and gave 'em a small chirp from the tires as I took off. They took the bait!
I heard the driver hit it and immediately put the pedal to the floor. The nice thing about these Bwoody mounts... zero hop. First gear dissapeared in a flash like it always does, and the tires broke loose again as I popped it into 2nd. I ran 2nd all the way out, then shifted to 3rd and let off. An obligatory glance in the rear-view yielded the Accord a respectable distance back. Perhaps the kids will think twice before joy-riding in mom's sedan again.
Summary: Tried to race a 2g eclipse, we lined up for a 20 roll, he u-turned and ran off. Two teens in mom's V6 Accord Sedan tried to get me from a dig, and were promptly burned.
Hope y'all enjoyed.
