First post and first...loss!
Hey everybody, I've owned my 2007 Cobalt SS for just about two months now and I'm completely stock.
About two days ago a black SRT-4 pulled up beside me and repeatedly revved and downshifted trying to get my attention. I knew he'd walk me so I wasn't too quick to bite but.. we came up to a light and I couldn't resist. I rolled down my window and told him to launch for the light and he agreed, we both had one passenger. Now the weird part..
The light went green and I launched, immediately pulling a fender on him. I slam second and grab a car length by the time I hit 6,000 RPM. I shift into third thinking I might continue to pull and... NOPE. It's like I fell on my face and he gradually crawled up on me then walked off in fourth.
I was shocked that I had managed to jump ahead of him at all, surely he needed a driver mod? I'm getting Stage 2 installed later this week, how do Stage 2 balts compare to stock SRT-4s?
Thanks for any replies,
Brandon.

Our top end sucks in stock trim. Stage 2 makes it better. Our gears are a bit tall and in third you really start to feel it. Run the guy after you get staged and you should fare much better.
There really isn't any turbo lag on a stock srt-4. If it's lagging you're in the wrong gear. From a dig the turbo will spool right up if he's launching it, sounds like the OP just got the better launch.

You know, if it was a 1/4th mile you very well could of won. Thr reason I say this is because I'm always at the top of 3erd gear at the end of the 1/4th mile. So if he inches in front when you hit 4th or around 98-105mph then you won anyways.
