I had a 200lbs passanger with me since he was recording and he was alone...we did 3 races from 60-140 roll and all of them same results..sorry for quality,was recorded from my cell phone...

i have nothing against gto owners or there cars,in matter of fact i wanted to buy one,but didnt cuz its heavy and takes time for it to stop..but for a car that has 350+hp to beat a cobalt that has only a s2 by about wat 1 car maybe 2 cars is sad...but overall good race and i will do it again after i get more parts on the car

The LS series motors in the Camaros, GTO's, and TA's actually do love bolt-ons. But yeah, the 04 GTO's weren't that quick, high 13's from the factory. I do like em though, but would have to be at least an 05 if not the 06's. The 06 GTO's had darkened taillights.

yeah, so, it is sad. If I'm gonna shell out that much money on a new gto (at the time it was released) and i can beat a sporty econobox by only 2 cars than thats pretty weak.

That, however, is beside the point. Though it does reinforces the statement I made in another thread about the older, non-cobalt people on and off this site rolling their eyes at people on here and the cobalt automatically, and why it's hard for the decent cobalt owners on here to get any respect.

I'd think you guys would rather represent your community in a positive way.

EDIT: BTW, the rear seat isn't even 100 lbs...maybe 20-40...which isn't even 1 tenth of a second in a quarter mile. So how much do you think that actually helped? Also, listen carefully to the video, the GTO lets up at a certain point A couple seconds before he actually hits the brakes at that. It was only going to get worse, he didn't just stop pulling on the cobalt.

Looks like a pretty quick race to me, no way that was to 140. Seems like he was pulling pretty good until he hit the brakes. That was going to get ugly pretty quick.

 

I HIGHLY doubt an 04 GTO ran a 13.2 bone stock. 05 or 06 GTO, yes...04, no.

 

I belive the best 100% stock time for a 2004 GTO is 13.2 but who knows this is the internet. Could be possible though since a 3400lbs LS1 F-Body can do 12.9 and the GTO only weighs 300lbs more.

I don't care what some of you say it was going to get really ugly for the SS/SC in the video. I also had a Stage 2 only SS/SC and raced a 100% stock 2004 GTO with a M6. It was a very close race until 80mph then he just kept pulling.

Some of you need to remember your comparing the best Stage 2 times against average 2004 GTO times.

I also find it funny that so many claim to have a driver mod.

 

Lets see how quickly you warp your brakes trying to stop from 140...

Good run, I saw a s2 Cobalt get pulled from a 60 roll to about 100mph (no way was the 140 ahahha) by 2 cars and then let off... 2 cars is ownage in that short of a race. So congrats, you were slapped silly by the slowest GTO out there.

 

140mph I dont think so, imagine if the GTO was a 6speed. Good run none the less but cmon guys people act like a stg 2 cobalt is stock. how bad can a stg 2 beat up on a stock cobalt? and why don you people ever run from a dig?

GTO's make me drool anyway...lol I raced one the otherday in the hov on 264E headed to va beach. It was a black 06 6.0. He was alone and I had 2 friends in the car. Man I love the way that thing sounded and we went from like 60mph. He was surprised that I kept up with him pretty good though. Gave the thumbs up and all. But I wouldn't be able to pull past him..I knew that...lol

HAHA from a dig what does that mean. I ageee 100% should race from a dig. What the hell is the point going to 140 mph? At most fast cars will trap at 115 and thats pretty damn fast. Never going to hit 140 in the 1/4th with a street cobalt or street GTo for that matter. Why all the GTO v.s. cobalt threads go to hell. GTO is a straight up faster car and more of a performance car then the SS/SC anyday.

i told the owner of that gto we go from 60-140...when i looked down at my speedo i was at 140,but he was past it since he has a faster car...he claimed he got it up to 145-150 or so...

and yes i admit the gto is faster than the cobalt stock vs stock,and im not goin to lie on that...i even told the guy in the video that i raced,that he will win,but i just wanted to knw by how much...he asked me to run 60-top speed,but i told him i dont want to go past 120,but i did anyways since it was intressting...and for u ppl that want to see it from the dig,ill go out and shoot a video from a dig vs that car...

 

That race did not go up to 140. The GTO was on it for 9 seconds. There's no way you guys got from 60-140 in 9 seconds.

damn i dont know who said it but yesterday somebody said the new name for this site should be cobaltssvsgto.net, i now 100% agree! we have at least one of these threads everyday, and not to bash but a 200 lb passenger while racing a gto w/ weight reduction and mods, is like you running a race against a sprinter but for some reason you want to carry a backpack.
