LS1 vs ss/sc

So it was nice out so I got the car out and was driving around. Ran across a LS1 camaro in town, and proceded out to the highway to make a run. At first glance I thought it was an LT1 car, but after getting a closer look saw it was an LS1. Any way he pulls up next to me on the highway, and I kinda started laughing. It had audio equpiment stickers on it, and what I think was a neon ring around a sub or two mabey. But whatever, so at about 60MPH I honked and he pulled a car on me. Which at this point I still though it was an LT1, so I was kinda shocked as it didnt seem to have anything but an exhaust. Then as his car goes to shift, it hits the limiter (auto). I then pulled him back in to me having a bumper on him, then he pulled probably another car once he got back into gear lol. And this was probably a 60-110 pull.

Overall not to bad, I cant complain for only having an intake on my car and an extra 300lbs in passenger. I have no idea what was done to the camaro. But i would guess an exhaust. Judging by how little he beat me, and by sound.

Good run, I highly doubt an auto LS1 would only pull that little on a stock tune LNF though. More likely a I/H LT1 or a manual LS1 with a poor driver.

A kill is a kill though

Sound like a manual car with poor driver skill.

No it was an auto. When we were driving through town i could hear it, plus he was smoking with one hand and driving with the other. I dont know why it was on the limiter between shifts though. And Im pretty sure it was an LS. Dont the LS have the bubbly headlights, where the LTs are incessed?

Ya the LS have the bubbly lights.

For reference this is a stock LS1 Trans Am Vs a tuned LNF Cobalt.

That's why I think it was a manual lol. It's hard to mess up with an auto unless something's wrong with the car.

I can drive and eat chicken tenders while dipping them in sauce and drinking a soda while listening to my girlfriend babble on the phone... doesnt make my car an auto.

Not saying it isnt possible but either the car was fubar'ed or it was a manual with a crap driver.

I'm an idiot

You most certainly did not run a LS1 then OP, sorry. It is possible that it was a bolted n tuned V6, possibly with a cam.

Could it of been an auto that the driver was manually upshifting?? Possibly missed the shift point and smacked the rev limiter??

Ok. You know what, you could be absolutley correct. It could have been a V6, it could have been an LS1, it could have been an iron duke too. Its as simple as nobody saw under the hood, so nobody really knows 100% what it was. No matter what it was the outcome is the same.

What I dont understand in all this, is why it is so hard to believe. For whatever reason his car was on the limiter between a shift. Whcih let me pull that car back in on him, and as soon as he hit or found or whatever with the gear he pulled that car right back and we quit. His car was faster, and we didnt need to be going 200MPH to prove it. It was fun, I had a good time as did he, and im pretty sure thats all that matters.

I really could car less what or who I race. Or how bad I win or lose by. Again, it is all about having fun and enjoying your car, is it not? Now to insult my intelligence by saying I dont know what it was is just rediculous guys. Anyone with a set of semi-working ears can hear a V6 and a V8 and tell the difference. And to tell me you know what tranny was in it, when I hear the damn thing driving through stop and go traffic, jesus guys come on now.

the ls-1s are really fast. they are a hard car to beat. with heads and cams........... they are just deadly. i think that would be an honorable death to a cobalt. its sad that people put gay subs in them and think its so cool. i say put ur money into what makes the car faster. subs don't make your car faster

That vid looks.kinda off. I beat my friends modded ls1 (lid, tuned, exhaust) pretty easy. From a 40 roll I walk him hard. From a 15 roll hell pull a car and a half then by 90 I catch up, by 120 I have a car and a half.
