MS3 got killed

Ok so evidently if you race an ms3 expect them to give you **** about a 40 roll due to their 6 gear drivetrain.

I didnt care, i said 40 or go race VTEC. I dont waste my time with anything over 40. Hell ill even do a dig, but he took the 40.

MS3: mods exhaust and CAI

He had 3/4 car lead when he honked 3 times, and i still pulled past him, and by the middle of 4th i had him by 3 cars.

friend of mine has a turbo balt....raced him that day.

pulled 2 on him. Although its always whoever has less fuel in their tank that wins.

I have an 05 cobalt SC

if it's the new ss/tc and u beat him you definately have ALOT of mods, a friend with stage 2 raced me and i pulled, the ss/tc has a much better gear ratio than the ss/sc or many other cars for that matter.

well that depends. the gearing in the ss/tc is slightly taller than the gearing in the ss/sc. Depends on what you are looking for.

40 for the ms3 is the worst spot ever. He was in 3rd, thats why u jumped him off the bat. Try a 30 or a 60

i raced another ms3 prior with just CAI from a 60 and still pulled hard until 110. Im used to the typical ms3 excuses (that are real), but basicly if they are at 60, u are in their sweet spot. Id rather just dig run them, let them get a jump and reel them in.

you can pull 2 cars on him just cause you have less gas in your tank? BS. I doubt you both weigh the exact same either.

It's all about if the driver can DRIVE!!! I have a friend with a new SS\TC With 290 whp mine is the same car but when I was at 265 whp, and I beat him every time from 40 to 120, until I tought him how to shift faster and not run to redline to shift ( power is dropping off several hundered RPM before redline) so no point in going that far on the tack, now he starts to pull on me at 85 from 40 to 120. Now I'm at 276 whp and walk stg 3 SS\SC's all day long.

The stg kits from GM are bhp >(crank hp) not whp. So from a stock 205 crank hp to a stg 3 is about 275-280 crank hp = 239-245 whp, not anywhere close enough to beat a tune only TC

good to know.
we can both drive well however i dont know when his or my power drops off. we both take it to redline, or at least i do.

dont underestimate speed3's. the speed3's biggest weakness is how it drops its power at 5700 RPM's when stock. A TC cobalt makes power to atleast 6200 RPM's. Also, no lift shift will keep you from losing boost. an SS/SC w/ stage 2 and mods makes power up to 7000 RPM's.

Both the TC SS and MS3 have a small disadvantage to a STG2 SS/SC. in the respect that we make power longer. Let me explain. I have many friends with SRT-4's. These SRT4's put down more HP then me period. We are not talking 2-3 HP, we are talking 20+ sometimes.

whats funny about it is, I can run with my friends SRT-4 who makes 20 more HP then me. Basically, when we floor it he will pull and then he will shift. Once he shifts, I pull back, then I shift, and he pulls a little bit, then he shifts, and I pull back harder. Peak HP is a great item, but it isnt the only thing that determines the speed of a car.

basically look at it like this.

2nd gear SS/SC - makes power from 4000-7000 RPM's. (@ 4000 180HP @ 7000 260HP)
2nd gear MS3 - Makes power from 3500-5700 RPM'S. (@ 3500 150HP @ 5700 280HP)

w/ the MS3 you run through the gears so fast, that you leave your peak power range alot. With a SS/SC your gears are longer, hence you stay in that 230-260 range alot longer hence you pull further.

I mean its kind of hard to explain here, and I dont have the time lol, but thats kind of what I am beating at.

MAZDA SPEED 3, there are some mods speed3 users can do that allow it to make HP up to 6200 RPM's. that extra 500 RPM's will make all the difference for the speed 3, and with that change alone, it would eat a SS/TC no problem. add in the fact it has the same turbo, and a bigger engine, and its ability to make more power is there. They detuned the american speed 3 and had it cut boost early for warranty reasons. the Alexia, in europe doesnt have the smae cut off and builds power to past 6000 RPM's. Cobb is basically hacking that, and I think with the 1.3 maps, it makes power to 6300 or so.
