I unfortunately have a big ol coffee can as well... But then again, I had 3" piping through the entire exhaust. In my quest for power, sacrifices have to be made... But the sound of a lumpy idle more than makes up for it.

The Evo does start to run out of breathe at the top. However, a set of cams will solve the problem.

ok ok evos are fast, blah blah blah we all know that. BUT!!! stock for stock the SS can hang or beat one from a roll. now this evo he raced had decent mods obviously, so the driver couldnt have been that great. that means that this story could be totally true. i love the evos, but stock from a roll they are fair game for us.
as for the guy that has a 2.9 pulley and other stuff, that loses to a SRT with just an intake... thats what happens when someone completely out drives you. there is no way that you should lose that race.

WTF are you talking about????? I raced him at about 35 mph there was no driving ability needed and i am a damn good driver. He said he only had a intake but he could of had more since he bought it used and has no real knowledge of cars. plus at higher elevation turbos don't lose as much power. I was getting 214 to the wheels uncorrected, at sea level w/ injectors i would have easily got 270 whp

The SRT started to fall behind as I started to gain on the EVO. My friend in the STi was gone, but I ended up passing the EVO. Next the EVO and I line up. Well of course he would kill me off the line, so we did another 15-20mph roll we took off and slowly but surely I pulled away from the EVO. Both the EVO and the SRT have a little work done maybe $500 in parts. But I am bone stock, It was great, I did'nt know my cobalt could go like that.
Ah, I think I saw you guys leaving the meet. You're in the laser blue SS/SC right? I had the arrival blue one out there. Are you going to the meet tonight?

Surprisingly, the EVO cams aren't that expensive compared to say the WRX. A new set of HKS cams run around $550 not including install. I got my 272/272 used for $400 with 2k miles on them. Install was $250 and didn't require different springs or retainers. Net gain in power was probably another 30whp (Haven't dyno'd the new set up yet.) And now it just screams all the way up to 7800rpm...

You should hit up the little meet we have going on @ Starbucks in Humble (right off 1960), it's pretty cool...mostly SRT-4's but it's WAY less ghetto than the aldine meet.
