"slow" is dependent on what your comparing it to.

yea numbers arent everything.. that car is a bus compared to a cobalt.. how much do those things weigh?

Agreed. MS3s are not by any means slow for a 4cyl sportcompact. An MS3 with full exhaust, intake, and tune can easily run 12s with drag radials.

I know both cars were probably stock, but stock for stock the two cars are very close acceleration vise. If you read all the comparisons thay are within 2tenths of each other to 60 and in the quarter mile.

Well it depends if they are modded. A good buddy of mine has one (07 MS3 - CAI, 3"Downpipe) and from a 40 roll I can put 3-4 cars on him every time, but if we go from a higher roll like 60mph and up its almost dead even, me getting a car on him from 60-125mph.

from highway rolls they are strong! I am also rockin a pretty modded 06 SS/SC as well (60's,2.8, HP tuned, meth, CAi, full exhaust) and he can stay right with me from a 60mph+ roll...lower speeds is where i can pull on him and keep my lead.

Just dont underestimate them! plus his just feels way faster than mine from the pasaanger seat anyways, lots of torque and close gearing

Right. They are so close it's not even funny. It'd be a driver's race. Good to see that a stock SS/TC can in fact take on a stock MS3. I had no doubts about that... But yeah, I believe the MS3 is rated @263hp &280ft lbs of torque. Stock it's capable of 0-60 in as low as 5.5, same as the SS/TC. I wanna say C&D even got it down to 5.3seconds... but I don't know how they exactly calculate 0-60. With just an intake, BOV and exhaust it's pushing over 290 crank HP, and 300+ torque.

It's probably the SS/TC's closest competitor next to a CSRT4.

So can a ss/tc, as proven by Hahn.

Still, MS3 is rater higher than the Cobalt in power numbers, but I haven't really seen any stock dynos, so I don't know what they really make. SS/tc has been shown to make more than its rated 260 ft pounds...in actuality, the two engines are probably very similar in output at their stock levels.

They dyno around 238-245whp stock and 255-260torque so similar numbers to a stock T/C, but they are about 200 lbs heavier than the T/C.

it could have been the driver too, MS3's you have to short shift a bit to get the best numbers. if he was shifting at redline than he would lose no matter what. MS3's with a short ram intake dyno at 250whp and 285ft/lbs. good race though

That is correct. Even though the MS3 redlins at 6800 rpms the power starts droping off rapidly at 6200 or so.

I raced an '09. 3 digs and 2 40mph rolls. Got him by 3 cars on all 3 digs and 2 cars on both rolls. I believe the reason why this happens is because of their gears being much shorter and almost shifting 4th by the time I shift 3rd. Also, turbo needs to spool up to get going (While I'm whining past him in the mean time ) Then again.. I guess we're talking about a SS/TC vs. an MS3. Just thought I'd share.
