SS S/C vs. GTO
You should really re-take math in grades 1-4. You know, since wieght to power is the end all of bench racing you should at least be good at it
Just for reference though, a GTO has about 9 pounds for every 1 horsepower. While a SS/SC has about 12-13 pounds for every 1 horsepower.

SS/SC 1.68hp per C.I.
GTO 6.0 1.1hp per C.I.
Let me say...the SS/SC Stage 2 could take an 04 GTO but not the 05+. The 05 GTO with the 400 V8 is as fast as my C5 Vette. I'm tellin' you there is no WAY the Balt can compete...I OWN both cars, I should know.
This is off topic, but do you guys know what Pontiac stands for?

but the trq on the GTO has got the SS/SC all day. HP sells cars, TRQ wins races

wow this thread is rediculous...and who said rwd is super easy to launch? not at all...most rwd cars have a little something called torque. especially a goat wtf!
wow....just wow. If you are gonna make fun of the gto being heavy, im gonna make fun of your car being plastic. fair? The gto still performs very well, even if it is heavy. And an ls2 goat a joke....hmmm. i love this forum, it's so non-bias.

***Newsflash**** 14.3 in the 1/4 is not fast. Some people on here have some serious superiority complexes. If the LS2 GTO is a joke then what is your car?
I posted time slips of a 13.0 @ 108 and a 13.3 @ 110. You ran a 14.3? My Taurus ran a 14.3 with a Y pipe.
guys with the same mods as me are turning mid 14's... seems you were doing the same with a pulley swap and injectors? Now you are on the juice, of course you are gonna be quite a bit quicker, but hey, if you want to run on juice i can borrow a zex kit from one of my friends..with 100 shot jets people are putting down mid 400's in torque. sounds good to me. With plastic, and more money you are acheiving the same. What are you trying to accomplish with this argument? You call a much quicker car a joke...wtf is that? why do some of you idiots feel the need to rip on people's cars in general? let alone faster cars.
Ive got a friend with a boosted 2006 6 banger stang, hes making about 360whp. The turbo kit is custom, and costed him about $2300.
I cant believe you are talking down to this guy like you own the fastest car here

Sadly, I used to own one of those "plastic mobiles". The only thing I found cheaper than the plastic on the outside was the plastic on the inside. I felt like I was driving around in Recycled Playskool crap........Might explain why jekqmb enjoys his Playskool car so much he just graduated from playing with something like this?!?!?!

I felt like I need to get my words out here in this exciting GTO bashing, it just looks like too much fun!!
WORD
From a fellow GTO owner and someone who respects the SS/SC balts! Tyler
PS, did I beat the
? These few tools do not make me look anyhting bad upon this website. But as kenhebe stated when we first started talking he said "Those guys are kidding them selves to think even stage 2 balts with supporting mods can take and LS2 GTO. LS1's will be closer, but still. I know where my car stands on the totem pole, some of them just don't see it" or something along those lines. When you have fellow members who own the car and mod the car saying things like that, there is no point in arguing. BTW, that quote was close to word for word, he said that a couple months back. So remembering it was a little difficult. Tyler

TRQ wins races
haha you've got to be kidding me? HP, TQ, WEIGHT, GEARING...they ALL have a part in "winning races"... take a 500ft/lb of torque car that weighs 6000lbs against a car with 100 ft/lbs of torque that weighs 400lbs...then come back and tell me how great the torque helps the guy in the heavy ass car. You only need half the torque to be equivalent to car that weighs twice as much. You can tell half the people in here arguing are clueless.
so....I would like to disagree.
Case in point...my 290ft/lb torque cobalt is > than an LS2 GTO with 400 ft/lbs.
from a stop...from a roll...from the grocery store...back down to his moms house...where ever he wants to race from, to, or near. This wouldn't be possible if "torque is what wins races"
I can't believe people are still having this arguement of GTO vs Cobalt
Look guys... Stock GTO > than stock cobalt....not rocket science. GTO > than stage 2 cobalt. Get over it. You don't see me crying because I got edged out by a c6...that bastard
(I'm still bitter...I just said you don't see me crying...never said I wasn't bitter)Our cars are the fastest things in the world...Bottom line is MONEY WINS RACES!
How fast can you afford to go?????
I meant ARENT the fastest...my bad.

FNFAST has it down pat! Everything combined makes a total. Torque gets you moving or gets you there, horespower keeps you there or keeps you moving. Cars like ours and vettes, f-bods, vipers, and so on are all geared and designed to accelerate steadily at/to high speeds. Thats why our cars are stable at 160+ and pulls steadily up until then. Its funny seeing races with cars that are equal in hp-weight but are geared economy cars. They hang for maybe two gears then switch and bammm, here comes the gas saver gear and you are down a couple thousand rpms on your tach. Or you start getting the car uneasy over 120 or the aerodynamics are holding you back more then your cars power will push it through.
Go check out they reason why 410hp camaros and t/a's are staying side by side or pulling from 450+hp cobras. Or my favorite, why 350 rear wheel hp GTO's are staying side by side with 360 AWHP evo's and sti's (with less weight, gears and aerodynamics)! Its all about the combination of everything. One more example, two buddies with equal mazda 6's one with a five speed auto and the other with a 6 speed auto. Almost identical hp (the 6 speed has a slightly larger driver) and the 6 speed always pulls it even with intakes on both. The 6 speed is geared to keep it in its power more so then the 5 speed and it shows on acceleration tests everywhere.
Torque does play a factor in slow roll races and also when shifting staying in your power band. When I shift it goes to my peak torque then proceeds to hit my peak HP and then click, next gear. I would rather have a high torque and equally high hp V8 that revs a little lower (6-7k) then a high hp low torque but high revving (9k) four. It can move alot easier granted the weight is too much for it.
On a side not FNFAST, I have seen dyno numbers of stage 2's with supporting mods. What would a stage three be putting out with out the shot on there? Just curious so I can know what to watch out for in the future. Tyler
Cliff notes, a car has to be designed to make efficient use of what it is given.

This will confuse alot of people, but I'll say it anyway.
Torque doesn't mean ****. Gearing will overcome any sort of lack in torque. If you spin a motor fast enough, 10 ft/lbs of tq would be enough to beat anyone on this site.
Bring on the flames
